Absolutely worked and I was happy. My camcorder is old and I wasn't sure I'd be able to use it to save video from the tapes I had.

My OEM power supply grew legs and walked. Needed a new one and found this. It works, however, you will want to get another A/C cord to plug into the back of it. The one that comes with this unit is REALLY SHORT. I swapped out the stock a/c for a longer one so that it could reach the power strip. It's fine for the money...I don't know if CANON even still MAKES the OEM unit, as the HV40 is no longer manufactured. At least I don't THINK it's still manufactured. But I still dig the camera, even if it is tape. Perhaps if my music project makes a huge splash upon completion, I may get one of the nifty new cameras using SDXC. Still, the HV40 still rocks if you know how to use it. I love this thing, it's everything you're thinking - cheap and it does the job. I bought 5 of these actually (I have 5 XA25's). For this price I'd rather run the risk of one in five going bad(which non have and it's been 3 months) than paying full price for 1 with Canon. They should be ashamed for charging what they are for their name on a charger when all you need is some power for your camera.Thank you wasabi power! 🍣

Only 3 stars because when plugging the unit into the wall there is always a spark. I'll continue to use it, but I plug in to the wall before plugging into my camera.I would buy this again and recommend it to friends. Just use it with care.

We had pulled out our camera and realized we didn't know where the charger was. After failing with a "one charger with multiple adapters", I went searching for a new one. I found this on Amazon and quickly ordered. It not only worked perfectly, but it also came very quickly with good packaging. I am very pleased with my purchase.
