Functional and easy to replace for you DIYers. Happy to find it at a reasonable price on Amazon since I find myself buying a new one every few years.

My Empire RH-35-7 heater was always difficult to light, right from the factory. I had to hold down the "pilot" dial at least 1 minute, sometimes 2, before the pilot would "catch" and stay lit. After replacing the thermocouple with this one, it would "catch" after about 10 seconds! I measured the old thermocouple with a voltmeter before I installed this one. It would take about 45 seconds to reach 10 millivolts, and wouldn't go higher than 20 after two minutes. (It's supposed to generate 30 millivolts). Granted, it was pretty much worn out; but If you're having similar issues, don't mess around - - - about 5 minutes of work will save you a lot of aggravation. Wish I had done it a few years ago!
