Great for beginner readers
These rotating blocks are very well made. They are perfect for beginning readers to practice one- syllable words with short vowels.

I chose these BECAUSE they are curvy like cursive!
I teach my kids cursive first and foremost before print. It is easier to learn, more adaptable and functional for the right brain left brain transfer, provides better quality penmanship from the beginning and is proven to alleviate many stumbling blocks such as dyslexia and dysgraphia. Print / block lettering has been proven to be the most difficult and that most developing minds are unable to think, and write "block" until almost the age of 10. 7 children later and 24 yrs of hands experience has proven beyond my evidenced research, that cursive is instrumental to the developing brain and has more benefits than block lettering. So I chose these BECAUSE they provide a more cursive type of format. If a true cursive model came out it'd be widely saught after. And yes we googked every word these make and I learned a few myself!! Now if they were 100%,USA made & assembled, it'd be a show stopper hands down.

Quality Montessori does not disappoint!
We just received these today - they were smaller than I anticipated, but very well made. I could tell a Montessori company sent these as there was so much care in the wrapping and packaging of them :) Neatly wrapped in brown paper with order information and item labeled, it was quite the delightful surprise to find this extra step put into an item I received through Amazon (most are usually just in the box without a packing slip). I unwrapped like a gift - which is what I feel it will be to our family. My 4 year old saw them and immediately wanted to start working with them. She knows her letter sounds and has figured out how to spell the word "cat" on her own. I thought these would be something to introduce this year to help her with beginning site words and rhyming. I'm really looking forward to using them!

Montessori phonetic blocks - a little on the high $ side but hopefully worth it
I just received these blocks so I can't rate for durability; will rate as average for now. They seem a little expensive but I respect the Montessori teaching methods. Sized correctly for a child's hands. For the money, I think a clear plastic or vinyl storage bag with a snap closure would be a plus to keep the five items together and less likely to be damaged or lost. I'm not sure I would buy again only because of price. Maybe $15 would be a more acceptable price range. Time will tell whether these are an effective tool.

Delayed Appreciation
Okay, so, originally when I got this for my 2 1/2 half year old that showed interest in reading and knew all his phonics, I was let down because, it didn't really grab his attention. I was so wrong about this toy - I was just trying at the wrong time. He's 3 years 3 months now and can A BUNCH of the words - even ones he has no familiarity with what they actually mean - and it's just been a fantastic day seeing him read these words. I'm not going to pretend we did this activity in isolation - we've also been doing tracing, sand letters, a lot of reading in general, and other things but, I'm just DELIGHTED he took to these and high fived us when he got a word right. He still doesn't do all of them right but, still, awesome product. REALLY love this.

Phonetic Reading and Word identifications
I liked this product because as most parents and people who have children, work with them and teach them, know that children today are very cognizant of their surroundings and pick up words even though they may not know the word(s) mean. This is one of many reasons many people need to watch their words when children are near. This Reading Block is a fun item for our three year old grandson. Working with the words that he can identify with, my wife not only is teaching him the alphabet with this reading block but also helping him identify the word via his surroundings. For example, my son recently bought a floor rug for the den and our grandson immediately identified the item as a 'rug' when he brought it in the house. Connecting the word to the actual item around the home is now a fun game that our grandson likes to play.

Five Stars
I absolutely love these adorable blocks! I wish I had them when I was teaching K5. This would have been yet another way of getting phonics in front of them. They are small and perfect for little hands. Some of the words are strange but it comes with a card with all of the definitions. I think that is an added bonus! A chance to introduce and talk about new vocabulary. Ask them to read the word, then give them the definition, and ask them to use it in a sentence! I only have a 1 year old now, but I use it for my online ESL classes. My students find it an intriguing and different way to practice!

As described, so read the description carefully.
I should have paid closer attention to the dimensions of this item. The blocks are quite small(see pictures and dimensions on the listinf). My 3 year old who likes to use the moveable alphabets to sound out words has not been too interested in these. I wish all the words were everyday words. My child is unsure when the word sounded out is so foreign. Not the greatest value for money but it is as described on the page so read the description carefully. I do like that the font is familiar since it is the same as other Montessori material. It also seems well made and sturdy.
