Does any camera co. make a point & shoot with an eye piece?

Both Sony and Panasonic do. The Sony HX90v and newer HX80 have a pop-up EVF (electronic viewfinder), and the Panasonic Lumix ZS60 and older ZS50 have an EVF built into the body. Most of these cameras are slightly more expensive than the Canon SX720, but are still direct competitors - all offering at least 30x optical zoom, similar specs, and roughly the same dimensions (the Sony models being the smallest).

Can it take timelapse?

From DPreview website, "Time-Lapse Movie feature to help capture images at preset intervals and combine them to create a short movie clip." ...so, YES.

Is this really twice the weight of the sx710 hs?

Just got mine. The published weight is for the box, camera, battery, battery charger, etc. Holding the sx720 in one hand and the sx710 in the other hand, I would say the sx720 is slightly smaller and lighter.
