Will it work with other rocks?

Yes! There is a lot of paints and decorations left over-for many other rocks. We even used rocks out of a river.

How are the transfers affixed? My instructions are missing.

This was from years ago but transfers are rubbed on or wet-rubbed on, if I recall correctly. My grandkids and I mainly painted the rocks. Great fun and decorative as paper weights or on a window sill.

Are these paints water resistant?

No, they are water based. You would have to put a sealant on the rocks afterwards. The paint does come out of the kids clothing easily.
