The HotHands Lap Warmer is a wonderful product! I was so happy when I discovered it when looking for portable self-heating packs. I’ve long used the handwarmers, but they are awfully small. The lap warmers are huge — 16” x 10”. It is essentially like 8 of the Super Handwarmers all in one large mat. It is excellent for camping in cooler weather — just activate it and it gets super hot! You do need to be mindful of how hot it can get. If you keep it under a blanket, it stays super warm for many hours! Although it says “Up to 8 hours of Long Lasting Heat”, I’ve had warmers last longer by keeping under a blanket. They are super easy to activate - just open the pack and start shaking them up. Within minutes warmth occurs like magic! I bought several of these for emergency use as well as for camping purpose. I figured if power ever goes out in winter, these could be an instant lifesaver! It just so happened after the last massive ice storm, we were able to donate to a local elderly woman who lived alone and lost power during the ice storm and was unable to get out of her home. Needless to say, this helped her until she was able to get her heating fixed. Definitely worth it to keep on hand! PROS: Excellent portable heat packs, excellent for emergency heat, perfect for camping/RVing. CONS: Can get super-hot — need to be mindful of skin burn potential Overall - HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I used this to put in my sleeping bag for camping on a cold night. It was perfect for warming up my feet. Normally I struggle to keep my feet warm no matter what I do. At home and when I'm camping at a site with electricity I can use a heated blanket but for primitive camping I needed something that would last all night and not require electricity. This was exactly the thing.

I've bought Handhands pocket warmers before and those work as expected, so when I saw these I figured why not. I was going camping for 5 days and knew the weather wasn't going to be warm during the day and down right cold at night (low 30's) I tossed one of these in my sleeping bag at night and it helped keep me warm all night. Works the same as the pocket warms version, just bigger.

Amazon, please read this carefully. Normally, this is an excellent product. Today, I opened an order I'd placed for 10 warmers. THREE WARMERS were ripped completely open, which activates them and renders them useless a few hours later. This means they can't heat up. The problem: Amazon put a wrapper over each of these already-open (now useless) lap warmers and re-sold them. Please don't re-sell this excellent product when they've been opened by another customer. Once the package is open, the warmer heats up for a few hours, then turns cold a few hours later. They were designed for one-time use. Again, please don't re-sell this product when the manufacturer's wrapper is open. This also isn't fair to HotHands. Customers may assume the product is defective.

These are great items for cold days outside or during winter power outages. Highly recommend. And yes, they do last eight hours. We wouldn't be without these in our house any more. Very durable for its use.

Opened one up at 11am for my nephew’s game and ended up using it as a heating pad on my back. Game ends, I take it home and continue to use it as a heating pad because it’s still hot. I go to an elementary school activity and continue to use it as a heating pad on my back because those chairs just aren’t comfortable. I bring it home, it’s still hot, so I continue to use it as a heating pad until I fall asleep. This thing was hot for 12 hours — incredible!! I’ll continue to keep them on hand in case I need a heating pad for my back and don’t want to lug around an electric one.

Picked up for my dad who is doing chemo who is constantly cold and I appreciate it how large these were and how a few of them could make for an extra layer of warmth. He seemed to appreciate them as well.
