Q: Is there anyway to store them for long periods if I am not making kefir on a daily basis?

I have kept homemade kefir in the fridge for over two months and consumed it without issues. Kefir was a way to store milk long periods in clay pots in caves before refrigeration. If you want to go even longer you can freeze them.

Q: I received lifetime kefir grains today but there were no instructions included in the box!! disappointing! please help! thank you!

The Kefir grains need to be re-hydrated by placing them in a glass jar of 8oz of milk covered with a plastic top or placing a coffee filter with a rubber band to hold in placeOrganic whole milk, don't use "ultra pasteurized milk" let ferment for 24 hours then discard milk, repeat this for 3-5 days. After 3 days you can consume the Kefir.When straining the kefir use a plastic a plastic strainer and spoons.Never use metal utensils. You can also do a second ferment after straining your Kefir. Second ferment for 6-24 hours to increase its nutritional value. hope this has been of help. Best milk to use: Raw Coats milk, Raw Cows milk, Organic whole milk. PS never use ultra pasteurize milk.

Q: can kefir be placed in hot oatmeal?

Yes, it will do just fine in hot oatmeal. Depending on the temperature it may kill some of the beneficial bacteria in the kefir. If you want to avoid the heat you can always try something like cold overnight oats.

Q: Can these be used to make coconut MILK keifer?

You'll want to make coconut milk kefir with grains specifically for water kefir. Check it out on YouTube.
