What is the different of Tenergy and the Dignics?

First, the question is "incomplete,"  mainly because "Tenergy" is the generic name of a specific series of rubbers made by Butterfly  (among others in their various product lines). WITHIN their Tenergy product, they offer Tenergy 05, Tenergy 05FX, Tenergy 64, Dignics 05, etc etc. "Tenergy" refers to the technology that embodied with that series of rubbers, and the numeric designation is the specific rubber within the Tenergy product line. So, why so "many" numbers? Like "05", "05FX", "64" etc? Because each particular rubber within the Tenergy product line has a specific set of characteristics to define that rubber's spin, speed, control characteristics. Tenergy Dignics is their very latest development (2019), it is quite expensive but has wonderful characteristics, which may or may not be suitable for your style of play AND your level of play! All Tenergy rubbers are "expensive", but Dignics is especially so.
In terms of Tenergy characteristics, I refer you to Butterfly's specifications chart, which clearly depicts the three parameters (speed, spin, control) on a veru understandable graphic that shows all Tenergy products compared one-to-the other.

What is the preferred thickness?

Dignics is very controllable even at the 2.1mm thickness sponge, which is what I use. It’s really personal preference and what type of blade your putting it on and what your looking to get out of it.  If your style is all offense then 2.1 for sure.  If you are an all around player then 1.9 would work great.   If your more defensive but want a strong attack if needed then I could see 1.7 working well.
