This as clearly shows 2 types/styles of latches. So which do I receive when purchased?

The JL latch! I have a 2012 jk and these are the new JL latches... i really like the look over the old rubber latch. When you install them take off your front grill. It makes it super easy to access the area with your rachet. You may want to make the holes a little bit bigger. I didnt but as i sinched them down they popped in. You will love the fact you hood wont bobble going down the road any more. Enjoy!

You should receive the JL latches. I don’t know why the add shows 2 different kinds.

All steel? Handles and latch?

No Plastic latch but heavy did not fit my 2015 Wrangler had to trim off plastic tab. Tabs did not align to holes in hood.

Are these better than the stock latches on the JK’s?

Yes, the hood will not lift going down the road at highway speeds
