It comes with displayport to DVI. Yes, you need to buy dpHDMI cable. Also watch your resolution. I had to buy 4k compatible adapter as monitor didn't like Amazon basic cable

This is probably good for a student. You would have to spend twice as much. Look at the requirements for the most advanced software. For 2d and moderate 3D work, this should be fine. This card is great for AutoCAD a medium for Revit.
