trying to figure out how high the main stand adjusts, then how long the boom is and how wide the base span is

The main stand (with boom parallel to floor) adjusts from 16 inch to 21inch, floor to arm. The boom adjusts from 15" to 28" fully extended. So with the boom angled up could reach 44" height comfortably. The base is 10" at its widest.

does samson meteor fit on this?

There are only two standard thread sizes for microphone stands and mounting brackets. This stand comes with an adapter and will accomodate both sizes.

does this stand work with the audio-technica AT2035?

I'd have to guess, but I would say, based on mic weight, that it would support an AT2035. I have an EV RE20, that weighs a little over a pound, I believe, that tips the boom right over. Darn!

My well used stand has broken off at the base and I want to re-thread it with a die cutter. Does anyone know the size and pitch of the threading?

Standard mic stand threading is 7/8" 27threads per inch into the base, 5/8" 27 tpi at the clutch end. Very thin threads. The tap and die for this size is more expensive and less common than standard sizes. So if you only have one stand to fix - proablay cheaper to replace the stand. I always planned to do the same, but I have more than 25-30 broken stands (i work for a live sound company) that I wanted to turn into shorter, even custom sized stands. I have heard from a friend who tried it that due to the thin threads its takes some practice.
