My second one because I love it so much.
This is my second one. I had the first for probably 8 years before the bottom started cracking and we’d accidentally thrown out the red part that makes it easier to clean. It makes prepping dinner so much faster. I will always have one in my house. Washes well on the top rack of dishwasher. Incredibly easy to use.

Handy
I think this item is well-designed and functional. I use it principally to chop apples to add to my cereal or oatmeal at breakfast and for that it's perfect. It's quick to use and easy to clean. Onions was a bit more problematic as some sections failed to chop and gummed up the blades. The biggest challenge was sweet potatoes. That was a fail. I tried too hard and bent some blades but was able to bend them back with pliers. I was also initially puzzled by the red removable grid as it would easily fall off. If you aren't careful, you'll chop it up. Then I saw that there is a small lip at the top of the base where the removable piece attaches. You need to press down on the top of the red piece to position it behind the lip so it will stay in place.

Even worked on tomatoes
I expected it could cut onions, but I wasn’t sure about tomatoes. It worked perfectly with tomatoes. We use Roma tomatoes, which are a little firmer, but it dice them perfectly. We cut the tomatoes and the onions in the slices first, but this gadget dicing them probably saved 75% of the time.

Fantastic and easy
I was given this for Christmas last year and was not sure if I would actually use it. I have had so many different types of choppers, and either they are a pain to clean or they end up actually being difficult to use or something. I wanted it to be easy. I was not sure about this since I did not pick it out myself. It is everything I wanted. It is super easy. Read the directions. They help. In order to clean it all you do is raise the lid and lift it straight off. Then separate the bottom two parts. They seem like they're hard to get apart but practice with it before and you'll see they are super easy. There's also a purple thing that you pull, and it prevents any food getting stuck in the lid. I have developed some little hints that I think work well. I chop the broccoli first because it is the messiest. Everything else after that helps clean all the broccoli off of the chopper. Things like carrots can get stuck but the trick is to put more carrots on top of them which push the first carrots through. Then it's easy. I have not tried onion because I don't care about onion. I have chopped zucchini, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, and some other vegetables. I make myself vegetable soup every day and I chop enough to last for a few days. I use old (clean!) peanut butter jars to store the chopped vegetables. In the glass jars, the vegetables stay very fresh. I have never washed this in a dishwasher because I don't have a dishwasher but I'm sure this would do very well. It's so nice and such a good value that I ordered three more for gifts. This is the only chopper I have ever used consistently.

It Chops Food
Overall this chopper works. Occasionally it does not chop completely through the vegetable but that could be operator error. The purple grid cracked within 2 weeks so I threw it out. Not really a big deal. I find it to be more of a hassle to wash than expected. My biggest disappointment is how large the dicing grid is. It's not a bad size for zucchini or potatoes but things such as onion, celery, carrots, the dice is quite large, in my opinion. I find that I don't use it often at all and would not recommend purchasing to a friend.

This is my second one! Love it!
This little chopper is perfect for my needs. I like to chop a large red onion to store in a tight glass container in my fridge so I don't have to do it every day when I make my salad. And I do NOT want minced onion because it gets mushy and doesn't store well for more than a day. This chopper chops it small enough for anything I use it for and the onions last over a week in the fridge. I'd still be using the first one I bought, but I messed up the plastic gasket that does such a great job of cleaning the grid area. Cleaning is simple - all pieces go right in the dishwasher (bottom rack, too!) I don't need a chopper with a ton of accessories that I have no room to store - this one does exactly what I need! Love it!!

Do Not Buy OXO Good Grips Vegetable and Onion Chopper - you will return it
Did anyone from OXO ever use this chopper? The cleaning grid falls out which makes it useless. There is no cleaning tool included for food that gets stuck in the grid. What do they expect you to do about this? We've bought choppers before. After time, they all break. They are not too expensive so I eventually buy another one because they make chopping volumes of veggies fast and easy. I bought this OXO chopper because OXO is generally a brand I can count on. BUT, not this time. What a let down. Now I have to go return it. Waste of time. Not a value. Not good function. Boooooooo! Do better.
