Does it work from behind the camera?

No, not unless your camera has a rear Infrared sensor. On my Sony a6000 this remote uses the infrared focussing assist. You MUST find that feature in the camera menu system and turn it on in order for the remote to work! To shoot the eclipse, I had to reach around to the front of the camera to trigger each photo

Bought this, but cannot figure out how to get it to control the Sony A7II. No menu item for 'remote'.

Under tool box, the last tab, choose 3 and down to Remote Ctl, select "on". Press menu again to exit. It works on mine.

I have a NEX-5t, what settings on the camera do I have to change for this to work?

Open up your Drive Mode options. Toggle down until you get to Remote Cdr and set it there. You can also. Obtain this setting from the Menu. Press the Menu button, Camera, Drive Modes, toggle down to the Remote Cdr button and set it.

Does it work for the Sony a57?

Sorry for the delay. I use the remote on an A6000 Sony and it works flawlessly. I am only an occasional user.

Super Fernauslöser für die Alpha 330. Funktioniert super leicht. Lediglich auf der Kamara muss die Einstellung auf "Fernauslöser" umgeändert werden. Schon kanns losgehen mit den Selfi's .
