I gave this lighter to a friend of mine (lady) and she loves it. I have one of my own. HOwever I received a package from amazon, scotch storage tape that was shoved into my mailbod, and hard to get it out without tearing the envelope apart. Also one box was opened in various places, otherwise I am happy with my amazon prime.

I bought this to use on my boat while fishing. With it's waterproof case and wind proof function, it should be perfect! I have had other electronia lighters before and they worked good as long as they are not allowed to get too cold.

Update 9/30/20 - Received my replacement I bought. Opened it up in the kitchen and my daughter was working in the living room. Pressed the switch to light it and she immediately yelled at me to stop. She didn't even know I bought a new one. It's uncanny, but real. Now I have one for each of my vehicles for emergencies.Update 9/19/20 - Manufacturer contacted me within hours of my email. They indicated that this noise was a result of the arc being generated and there was nothing they could do about it. They said they were very sorry and offered to refund my entire purchase price and I could keep the lighter. I asked if I could get a replacement instead, but there may have been a communication gap as they just refunded me. I plan to buy another to see if this was a one-off or if it really is a result of the arc generation. Plus I wasn’t trying to get my lighter for free; they provided a lighter that worked and started a fire as advertised. Will update after receiving the new one.O.P.- Overall I like this lighter. I just got so I can't comment on longevity of the charge or the unit itself. Please note that I don't smoke so am not going to be using this as a daily user. This is going to be kept in the console of my truck for starting fires while camping, etc.Pros:- Plasma arcs are hot. They start a paper towel on fire instantly.- I purchased the orange one, and it's arc rods are situated where the plasma flows flat, versus some of the colors where the plasma flows cross-wise. I'm sure that this statement is quite confusing. Select the different lighter colors and then look at the layout of the plasma generating rods. The pictures on amazon are true as of this writing, per the layout.- Lighter floats as advertised and kept water out.- With regard to the battery and how many uses you can get and how long it will last in storage, I can't yet comment on this. It's made in China and I'm in the US. Lets assume that it takes at least a month from manufacture to crossing the ocean to Amazon packing and shipping to arrival at my house. I didn't charge it when it arrived, and I have sparked it over 50 times since getting it. The battery appears to hold a charge for a decent amount of time.Cons:- As I described in the headline, this lighter has an amazingly quirky flaw. Apparently when turned on, it generates an extremely high-pitched squeal. The first time I tried the lighter the dog ran away from me. I just figured he was scared of the lighter itself (he's scared of his own shadow). Then in subsequent lightings, my kids both yelled across the house asking "what's that noise?" I have lost a lot of my hearing over the years, so I can't hear it. I thought they were messing with me, so we ran a test. I sent them across the house (2 rooms over and probably 30+ feet away) and had them yell every time I lit the lighter. They got it right 100% of the time. Doesn't bother me as I can't hear it and it's only for very infrequent use. Just thought I'd throw this out there to anyone this may affect.I do plan to contact the manufacturer about the high-pitched noise and see if this is a flaw in mine or it happens in all of them. If I get a response, I'll update this review. Same with the battery life/longevity. So far so good.I hope I have helped your purchasing decision of this product. Works as a fire starter or fun taser, but the battery life is short.

Great lighter except for the lid design. If you are lighting small bits that you bring to the lighter, then you're fine. However, if you are wanting to get the lighter close to what you want to ignite, the lid will prevent you as it does not hinge back far enough.Their image is accurate and that is as far as it articulates back. It should go flat against the body.
