SONNIA SINGH has put across with remarkable skill & details of various battles of 1965 war. She brought out actions of units & individuals in pains taking details & accuracy.Extremely educative and inspiring, The style of writing is frank and direct to the point. She has been able to put a across various battle scenes for a lay person & apprise him(her) the ups & down of the war.She has highlighted political decisions taken by short man( Lal Bhadur shashtri) against tall man ( Gen. Ayub khan) by crossing the international border and totaly surprised the PAK. She has not hesitated to blame Higher authorities on both sides for failure to exploit the initial gains.VERY HELPFUL REPORT

A must read for young India to feel proud of their history and heritage.
A very well presented account of the most important campaigns of the 1965 Indo -pak war when the Indian forces were still recouping from the humiliation of the 1962 China debacle. The author has been able to highlight in very simple terms the sheer grit and bravery of our officers and men who turned the tables against a better equipped enemy. It is a must read book for the present generation to understand the untold stories of sacrifice and bravery of these men who saved our country from imminent disaster.

A must read historical perspective!
I recently read 'The Turning Points 1965 War' by Sonnia Singh and found it to be extremely educative and interesting. Having taken part in this war I was impressed to go through her account of the various battles in which she has brought out the facts and the strategies employed by both the opposing sides accurately. I compliment this young lady for the painstaking research done by her. This will hold the future generations of the armed forces in particular in very good stead and the other lay persons on the vicissitudes of war. Her style of writing is racy and direct which keeps the readers glued to the book. All together its a remarkable effort to capture the sterling account of those who were a part of this national effort. I strongly recommend this book to all the young aspirants who are looking forward to join the army!

Complexity simplified
An amazingly easy read, the author has managed to convey the incidents through such a simple narrative, while it was indeed such a complex time in the history of the armed forces.Have heard many such stories from my father , who served in the armed forces and was right up there, during both wars...Proud of the same.Very happy to read this book and am sure it will reach top #10 soon in the War Books category

A Must Read
The book has been written with very unbiased viewpoint. The Author has made a sincere attempt to cover as much truth as possible. All the stories are really inspiring. The flow of stories is very natural and without any complication. I think a good book to have in your collection even if you are not a big fan of the war related litrature.

How India checkmated Pak's Lal Qila Dinner plan !
A lucid and piogant account of India's lesser know War of 1965 . It fills one with pride to know how our Indian forces managed to trump militarily superior Pakistani Army and Air Force .Kudos to Sonnia for bringing to life stories offorgotten heroes like Maj. Dayal at Haji Phir, Sqdn Leader Devaaya during India's daring air strike at Sargodha air base and many more tales of valour...several of them will fill up your eyes .Commend her for the thorough research and simplifying the military jargon to allow layman like me to appreciate the war strategem and tactics .An ode to how few men defeated a superior military machinery with their grit and bravery .

Should be made into a movie!
These are the stories of real people, making decisions in real time. The little glimpses into the soldiers life and the enormity of a commanders choice make this a truly unique read. This could and should be the next 'Border'.Editorial could be better though!
