Small mouth and regular mouth are the same thing, so yes the small mouth fit on standard size jars, not widemouth

Q: Do these bands work on ball mason jars?

I had to return them. They did not work on any brand of mason jar I own (ball, Kerr, atlas). I was very disappointed.

Q: What kind of lids must be used? I am interested in the plastic ones, not the traditional "one time use" lids. Would they work?

They will work with any lid that fits the mason jar.
