It is a powder. Easy to use but inevitably if not careful some gets wasted in application. Good stuff though.

Does this product have an expiration date, and if so does it tend to be a year, two years, etc.; does it have an indefinite shelf life? Thanks!

It's a stable powder. Don't get it wet - or contaminate it - and it will remain good for decades. Fold a SMALL piece of paper into a little tube with the bottom folded closed, then put a tiny amount of the product in that to dip your cuttings into, in order to avoid any possible contamination. Other tips: Cut stem from plant any old way - but when you are ready to work with your cutting, place stem end into a bowl of clean water and recut it at an angle. Cutting under water prevents the stem from getting an air bubble, which could slow rooting. Cutting at an angle gives a larger surface area for roots to grow from (although many plants will produce roots from around the stem, too). Use a razor blade to do the "rooting cut," because scissors might pinch the end shut. Don't use your cutting to make a hole into whatever you're planting it in - use something else, place the cutting into the hole, and then gently press around it to ensure there is no air gap between the media and the cutting. OR... Just cut a piece off mama plant, drop it in a glass of water, place it on your kitchen windowsill, and change the water once or twice per week. That's what Mom has been doing for 70 years or so - with a 100% success rate. She'll even take the tag-end of an onion or bunch of celery that's been in the refrigerator for over a week, and turn it into a plant. The chunk of celery end will grow several little "shoots," lol. The only thing a product like this does is potentially cause the rooting process to happen a bit quicker (but it generally does do that). If you want to have fun, do a Google search for air layering, and one for ground layering. Those will grow roots on the new plant BEFORE you cut it free from the mother.

Does this have a fungicide? I can't seem to find any rooting hormone that does.

Can this used on food crops?

I personally use this for tomato side shoots and a few other fruiting plants, like okra and strawberries. I have not had an issue with doing this.
