The nerve in my tooth is exposed at the side, so when i use this stuff, the gum will be touched. is pain bearable and how long would it last?

It doesn't hurt. It can have a spicy burn to it if you are a wuss. But the relief you get from it far outweighs any negative effects. I actually like the way it taste. The medicine can keep the pain away for as long as 24 to 36 hours, depending on whether or not you brush it off while brushing your teeth. But if you do, just reapply. You don't seem to build a tolerance to it like orajel.

Can I use this on an extracted tooth in the gum?

It absolutely helped my gum pain after a root canal and extraction. It did not burn my gums but it did numb my lip and tongue for a short amount of time.

I have a cavity in the middle of my tooth. Do I place the product around the white part of the teeth or right on the cavity which is the black part?
