Manufacturing/Quality Control Disaster - REMEDIED!
SEE EDIT BELOWI've had a Booda Box for nearly a decade and loved it.It was, however time for a refresh that's why you ordered another one. what I received was a disaster.Clearly since I bought my first Booda box, the manufacturer came up with ways - not to make it better - to it's cheaper we're at the bus my cat has enjoyed for for so long date of a thick, sturdy plastic/rubber like material what came out of the came out of the Amazon box this time light and flimsy and barely held its shape - cheap. What's is that worse top doesn't fit the bottom, not by a long shot. The old top matched the bottom and easily locked into place. What I received this time: the top is nearly an inch too wide just snapped into place or cajolled into place. Not only is it floppy to the eye, but it certainly does not seal the litter.I've already box right back into the box it was shipped in I would have attached photographs of this abomination.Because enjoyed our original Booda Box so much I chose to cross my fingers and this monstrosity was a one-of-a-kind disaster and asked Amazon to replace it with the same "item" - I hope that is not literal!I'll update this review if the replacement box has the quality build of the first.(I fear I'll have no need to attract my criticism, as there are several additional points of design/manufacture that seem to have deliberately been changed… for the worse.Be that the case, when a manufacturer brings to market a beautiful designed product but, over time, figures out to make it cheaper regardless of that decision's consequences vis-à-vis the product's quality, that's such a shame!* As I as I said, I will update this review if this replacement resembles the box I've had for so long. if I have to return the second box Amazon sends I'll report that, too.** I did contact the company, about this, as suggested by Amazon in choosing a return method. As far as I am concerned, they scoffed It off and failed to address any of my concerns regarding product design changes."Amazon purchases our product in bulk, resells and ships the product to individual consumers out of their distribution centers. Amazon should have a QC operation in place to ensure that when their shipping to their customers from their warehouse the inspected product will meet the customers’ expectations."And all I wanted to do was refresh a product that has served us so wellUPDATE: Bingo! With few expectations, I ordered a second box – it's awesome. It's as sturdy as it was the first box, and the pearl white color is simply fabulous. I trust the first box that arrived had somehow slipped through QA. No comparison!

BEST EVER
My kitty has always had troubles peeing outside of the litterbox on things I don't want her to pee on. She got to the point where she was fine with her open tray litterbox at my old house since I found a litter she liked, but I recently moved and it stressed her out living with another cat so she's been peeing outside the box again. I also have to keep it in my room now and it bothers me while I sleep if I smell something fresh. We tried a hooded box but she's a big girl so she stuck half her body out while using the litterbox and it was difficult to remove the lid with locks. Then I saw this. It's a lot of money for a litterbox but I was desperate. I needed something that would mask the smell so that I didn't have to clean in the middle of the night, would give her privacy, be big enough, would fit liners, and look good with my white room decor. Well let me tell you this is all that and even more. I rarely smell anything anymore. She doesn't pee anywhere else. It doesn't lock just sits on top so it's easy to remove and clean but also so easy to put back on because it's light and has a handle so you don't have to touch the edges. My baby also loves the steps so much! The look of it is so cute too in pearl. This would be suitable for even the biggest cats.

Good box if you have the space for it
My husband's main reason for refusing to let a kitten come into our home was his hatred for stepping on litter. I promised him I would clean up constantly but even my frequent sweeping was not enough. Our kitten, the apple of my eye and the bane of my husband's existence, made it a point to make a mess and his personal goal was to set distance records for his litter and whatever else may be in there. A wide open pan was a joke; the cat basically did the can-can and got litter in EVERY corner of our small bathroom. A covered box was an improvement but a small one, plus it broke pretty quickly. Finally, this box spoiled kitty's favorite past time, and contains a good 80% of the kick out. Paired with one of those litter catching pads and frequent sweeping, there's few mornings featuring the torture of litter beneath your feet. This is my favorite litter box ever...but it has some flaws. Is it easy to clean? Sort of. Not much sticks to the box itself, but it has a lot of curves and nooks and crannies that are tough to reach via scoop. Additionally, its unique shape makes it tough to pour litter out and neatly into a bag. I can no longer recycle bags from the grocery stores, and even our 30 gallon kitchen trash bags don't fit around any point to easily pour, meaning my clumsy self ends up spilling a bunch all over the floor. Once you get the litter out, a strong spray and a quick wipe makes it look good as new.Not sure why "lock feature" is a rating since there is no locking at all? The top of the box just sits on top, no lock to be found anywhere. But it sits well and securely. As for space; it's a big box, but that's why I chose it. It fits perfectly in its dedicated corner of our bathroom and our little poophead has plenty of room to move around and take care of business. That being said, on three occasions, I've found his urine on the steps of the box. In all of these instances, the litter was relatively clean, making me think he missed when aiming for his favorite pee-corner, which just happens to be close to the steps. However, the elevated step design means his paws were dry when he stepped out.All in all, I actively recommend this box to all my fellow cat people. It's much sturdier than a traditional rectangular covered litter box and I have every confidence we won't need another litter box any time soon.*edit: the box itself is still great and my first recommendation to anyone who dares to share with me that they're getting a cat. However, my tiny little cutie pie is now one of those cats that you look at and wonder if it's part panther. My sweet kitten is now a teenage mutant ninja monster and still growing. He could barely turn around in his litter box so we upgraded to a more traditional rectangular covered cube. We may have to remodel and get him his own bathroom if he keeps growing, but I am kind of bummed to retire the dome. I still recommend you get this box if you have a normal sized cat.
