I NEVER WANT TO RUN OUT OF THIS!
This is one supplement I never like to be without! Our family has used it for years, mainly for digestive/bloating issues. It's great to take a couple of capsules after eating Mexican food, Indian curry, or any other spicy or potentially "gassy" foods. This brand has worked consistently well over the years and is reasonably priced. Along the way, we've discovered other benefits. It was great to take while breastfeeding my babies. It increases milk production, and passes the digestive benefits to a nursing baby. A tea can even be made by opening a few capsules and boiling in a couple cups of water, then straining and sweetening if desired. I remember giving that concoction to my 18 month old toddler in a sippy cup or bottle after he ate a fistful of unripe green grapes from our backyard. He ended up crying from a terrible belly ache later on, but the tea was very effective in alleviating it.:) We've also discovered that it eliminates excessive menstrual cramping when taken daily, (all month long!) along with evening primrose oil capsules and a quality magnesium supplement. (Ancient Nutrition has an excellent one here on Amazon, called Active Peptides Magnesium.) My daughters often needed reminding to take their daily vitamins, but since they have seen the results for themselves, they rarely ever forget their fennel, magnesium, and evening primrose oil! Those three supplements have been a game changer for them. It can be very beneficial during menopause as well! The most recent discovery we've made is that fennel also helps break up excess mucous and chest congestion. For that, we usually include a fennel sweet oil, (also from Amazon) taking 3-4 capsules per day, along with a drop of the oil on the tongue, as needed. This can also help alleviate coughing at night without the risk of choking on a cough drop. A few drops can be added to a carrier oil and rubbed on the chest to relieve tightness, along with some heat applied. Overall, this is an excellent supplement I make an effort to NEVER run out of!

A must have.....
I have been taking this since a friend of mine mentioned that she took it when she was breast feeding -- helped with her babies colic. I take it because it really helps with stomach upset and gas. I take two every night with my other vitamins and minerals. I then take 2-3 whenever I am going to eat a meal that I know might upset my stomach....like Mexican. It works like a charm. One caution.....fennel apparently has an estrogen derivative so if you are concerned about estrogen for any reason you may want to consult your doctor before taking. Here's one review.... COMPOSITION AND SAFETY Fennel contains a complex of estrogen-affecting compounds. A 1980 evaluation published in the "Journal of Enthnopharmacology" concluded that fennel's primary estrogen-like compounds include anethole, photoanethole and dianethole, which it shares with similar-tasting plants, such as licorice root, anise and star-anise. When used in food quantities as flavoring agents, these compounds are classified as GRAS, or generally recognized as safe, by the Food and Drug Administration. This implies that the compounds can be used in moderate amounts without posing a safety risk to most healthy human beings.
