Q: how is surface prepared

I may have gone overboard but knowing how important it is I degreased, wire brushed, scrubbed, and scraped all the old loose dirt, sanded to remove more dirt, degreased, then finished with the kit's included brake cleaner. Paint stuck with no issues.

Q: I have never seen paint that sticks well to metal without primer. Does this have a primer in the kit?

No primer in the paint or the kit but none needed as long as you make sure that the metal that you paint is clean. I used a metal cleaner and a wire brush and the results were great. Its been over a year and the brake calipers I painted have not flaked or faded. I did apply a clear coat.

Q: I'm reading some people are using th VHT Caliper Clear Coat over this G2 kit, is it really needed?

You could definitely use 2k clear coat, (epoxy) I wouldn't use anything else.

Q: Will it fix 2014 BMW 535i

This is Paint; the only thing it “fixes” is the appearance of the calipers
