Shiitake Mushroom Mycelium Plug Spawn - 100 Count - Grow Edible Gourmet & Medicinal Shitake Fungi On Trees & Logs

These Shiitake Plugs arrived healthy and well. They are designed to be plugged into logs, per the directions. Right now, all the logs that I have were already claimed by indigenous fungi. I wanted the type of Shiitake sold by Fungi Perfecti (wide-range) so I ordered the plugs, even though these are not meant to be grown the way that am. I am using sawdust and straw, well-sanitized, with the plugs. It would have been a good idea to perhaps soak and blend up the plugs with the substrate, though just putting some plugs into each jar has been sufficient. There has been 100% growth (every plug is carrying live mycelium) and I have had no contamination. The one thing that I forgot was bran! Perhaps I can give them bran-water later. I'll figure it out. As usual, Shiitake take their time to get moving. They are, though! I have them in plastic containers that will be sacrificed when it is time to open them, so I am able to observe their progress. I'm quite pleased with the quality that I received from Fungi Perfecti. I would buy from them again!

These are working for us just awesome! We are 2 weeks away from being able to force fruit them. You can see the mushroom network all over our logs! Can't wait to see how many we get!! Fun project and pretty easy!

Did not work yet Trying for 2 years no results

I had very few mushrooms emerge the first year, but to my surprise, more came out this year, so may be the rest will grow next year... very nice size and really good!

These did nothing for me. I live at approx. 2700 ft. above sea level. I went into the edge of my woods to put in logs. I purchase a good drill and followed the directions perfectly. It has been approximately a year now and still nothing. However, all kinds of mushrooms have grown around my Shiitake plugs. I gave some to a neighbor to put into some logs and they got nothing!

Great service, although this is my first try at producing Shitake Mushrooms and it will be at least 1 year before I know if it took, the plugs were delivered as described with very detailed instructions on the procedure of starting the process. I am excited to see what happens from here on out, because I followed the instructions to the letter!

Simply amazed! I wish I took pictures of the end product, mushrooms galore! Maybe I'll take picture next year. I used a spiral pattern on three 2foot logs and ended up drying or giving away most of the shiitakes because of the insane numbers. Anyone reading this should do thorough research on mushroom farming for best results. There are tons of resources available online and many books filled with tips and tricks for all climates.

It was over 6 and then 9 months of inoculation but the logs and spawn failed. I can't say for others, but it won't work if you live in California and have it outdoors, even with shade. It simply cannot cope with the climate. Indoors only if I could redo.
