Thermostatic shower should be the modern standard for all shower trims because they actually control the water temperature and keep it consistent throughout the duration of your shower. In addition, it is very simple to use: the bottom knob sets the temperature, and the top knob control volume with integral diverter (controls where the water is coming from)—turn it left and water comes from the tub spout, turn it right and it diverts it to the shower head. It is very elegant and minimalist. The temperature always stays within one degree, as opposed to a pressure-balance valve which has a range of three degrees. A thermostatic shower valve also has temperature memory, so you can leave it at your preference and never fiddle with it again. Also, having the volume control separate from the temperature control is a huge luxury with only a marginally higher cost. And sure, a pressure-balance valve usually much cheaper than their thermostatic counterparts, however, if a contractor is only selling pressure-balance trims, seek a better one. My one caveat I have is that the pressure only changes in a very narrow margin at the beginning, maybe the first 1/10 of a turn, and reaches full pressure after that. It is still easy to control though.

Recently installed this in my new shower. Beautiful and functional. My only dislike is that you can't use the shower wand at the same time as the shower head. If I turn it left it's the wand. Right it's the overhead. Center is off. Love the sleek design though and expect the hansgrohe brand to last.

Installed this as part of a bathroom remodel in November 2025, the safety stop broke in June 2026. This isn’t that big of a deal since we’re not bathing young kids, but it is just disappointing for the quality of Hansgrohe we’ve come to expect. We’ve had Hansgrohe fixtures for almost two decades across a span of two houses, and it feels like the quality isn’t what it used to be. The brushed finish looks patchy as well. My kitchen faucet in this same house that was installed in 2012 is the caliber of brushed finish I am used to. See how it is even and not patchy/ smudged looking. You can see pics and look at the difference for yourself. I don’t know if Cross Water makes a Thermostatic shower trim that allows for temp and volume control separately, but I would check them out instead if we ever do another bathroom remodel.

love this, looks great and love the volume control and everything works smoothly but you need a plumber who is familiar with this brand, my first plumber dint know what he was doing until i hired one that knew how to install this brand.

Beautiful product. I wish the extender was marketed with the product because if you only remodel occasionally, you don't know you need the extender. Luckily, I read all the reviews and knew to go look for one to use with this unit. Only some remodels may need the extender but it's nice to know they exist and where to find them if you do. Otherwise, this product is very classy and stylish. It is made of quality materials. Love it in general.
