Good beginner saxophone reed.
Good value, reliable and consistent reed for the beginning student (1.5 strength). Ease of sound production and tone on these reeds really gave my student a confidence boost having found other reeds difficult to play at this early stage of their musical journey. The fit on a number of mouthpieces: Rico, Selmer and Yamaha was very good. Like any natural cane product, variations can occur ( and as the player progresses they will move to different strengths and cuts and brands) but rico reeds are a reliable brand, all 3 reeds in this pack worked well allowing the reed use to be rotated and get most life out of them. As a pack these are well priced. Reeds are a very personal fit and it is an unavoidable journey for the reed player to experiment to find the best reed ( strength, cut, brand) for their current level but these are good starting point and, if stored correctly, have a good durability. As a d’Addario product these also have points which you can collect on the d’Addario player circle rewards scheme.

Great for beginners
These just do what they're supposed to. They're nothing special but for the price I wouldn't expect them to be.

Reliable
Always used rico and rico royals . Don’t usually have to break them in unlike vandoran , but , on occasions I have been amazed with the response from a vandoran reed , but rare .

Good quality product and a more economical multipack.
Good quality product and a more economical multipack. Although you can buy in greater quantity this has been a good way for a beginner to try out a variety of different tenor saxophone reeds as recommended. 3 reeds in individual plastic casings to keep them in good condition. They are lasting well and I have liked all the Rico reeds I've tried. Quickly despatched and great service from the seller.

2.5 strength
I guess I had hoped for a consistent grading and getting reeds that were somewhere between a "2" and a "3" (based on say, Vandoren's classification); but these are definitely more like "2s". OK, the difference between 2 and 3 may not be great but if you advertise something as having a difference in scale then I think it should, somehow, feel different. So while OK, they did not deliver for me. But reeds are so personal and these might be good for others. Price is good so worth buying some to try out.

Rico 2 ½ Grade Tenor Reeds.
I got these to test out a new mouthpiece as the tip opening is a little wider than my old one and I wanted to see if a change to a softer reed was in order - I usually use grade 3s. Unless otherwise stated, Rico reeds are generally what I understand to be "American cut" ie. intended for use with American made mouthpieces which have a slightly longer lay and gentler curve towards the tip-opening; the reeds are therefore cut to have a stiffer heart to them. Whether this makes any difference or not (and plenty of players happily swap French cut and American cut reeds regardless of what type of mouthpiece they have) I usually choose Ricos for all my saxes because I'm used to them - I'll use Vandorens as a stand-by. This three-pack is fairly good value; you're lucky if you get one reed out of a box of ten that's good straight off; having three to work with means that you'll at least get one you can be happy with, even if it needs a little doctoring or playing-in. Nice that they include a plastic case for each reed too.

I use them now since a couple of months. They have become my standard reeds. The overall quality is good and consistent. You don't have to through away many of the reeds.

I've returned to Rico reeds after decades. Like many of the reviewers, I was always under the impression Rico reeds are for beginners, not consistent from one reed to another and that they don't produce good sound quality. They're what i played until middle school (decades ago) when I switched to Royal reeds. Recently, I watched a YouTube review where the reviewer explained Rico and LaVoz reeds (historically played by many professionals) are the exact same reeds. I bought some Rico reeds and found no difference. Rico reeds are excellent reeds for all level players. They are among my favorites. I read Amazon reviews saying they don't last, are of poor quality, smell, do/don't produce a bad smell, etc. After playing dozens of reed brands over the years, I can say none of that it true. These reeds are top level reeds at a price way lower than what they could be. There's no down side to these reeds.
