Would this game do pretty well as a travel game for a car ride? Do the white plastic pieces come off of the boards or stay attached?

When tipped upside down (like to quick flip all up), the white frames can come off. They can also pull off easily. However with normal game play, they do stay on. I do wish they were a bit more secure, like the original Milton Bradley version. There is a travel version...that may be better for your needs. These boards are a bit large to sit on laps in cars.

All the tiles start flipped up the two players pick a person out of the yellow cards. Then you tale turns asking each other yes or no questions. A.e. do you have red hair? Are you a girl? ..... then you flip the tiles down that don't match their response. Finally you will have one tile left and you get to say your _______!

About 1.5 inch tall x 1 inch wide. Plenty easy to see.

Are the cards removable from the board? I was thinking of adding my own characters.

Yes. When you set up the game originally you insert the little cards into the plastic frames, so you can take them out and replace them with Aeron if you want.
