MagicScore Guitar [Discontinued]

I still haven’t figured it out.

I write guitar tab and notation on a regular basis, so I've looked around at a lot of different programs in the past. I'm typically working with stringed instruments or a rock-band format: guitar, bass, drums, with my primary focus on guitar. Much of the time, I'm writing something out for a student during a lesson and speed and legibility are my primary concerns. Although I know this program has them, I don't have a lot of need for midi playback features or full orchestration, so my review comes from that viewpoint.I found MagicScore Guitar to be quick and intuitive to learn, which is important to me. The shortcuts for note values combined with the on-screen fret-board make it easy to input notes. One of my favorite features is the ability to use bend arrows in notation as well as tab - that's a rare feature in my experience, but one that can be important, especially when writing notation for students who are more familiar with reading tab. Some programs frustrate me to no end when it comes to getting bend arrows to look right on the score, and I've often had to resort to importing graphics, which can be very time-consuming.I have a pretty neat hand and if I can write a passage out by hand faster than using a software program, the program loses some of its value for me. The exception is when I'm working on a paid transcription or something else that needs to look perfect. I've tried out some good notation programs, but many of them have a steep learning curve and require a fair amount of time before you get fast enough to be effective. Many of the notation programs I've worked with also come with a steep price as well as a steep learning curve. MagicScore gives you a lot of the same bang for a lot less buck. I've only been working with MagicScore Guitar for a few weeks, so I'm by no means an expert, but I've found it easy to get up and running with what I need to do. In looking for a program that can get the job done fast and easy with minimal headaches, Magic Score Guitar is one of the best I've found.

The version sold on Amazon says it is for Win-10, but when it came it wasn't so - I had to fill out a case-ticket and waited for several days, and it still didn't get handled properly. My advice: use Crescendo - it is better by far and there is no case ticket to fill out, works on installation, and is superior.
