Reliable timer switch
Bought one last year and It's the second item. Reliable, ease of use and item as described.

Excellent product.
At last - a timer that activates when it detects darkness and switches off when dawn arrives (or after a set period that you can select) - and in the form of a mains plug adapter. It's surprising how hard it is to find such an item. This does exactly what I wanted: Turns my lamp on at nightfal and then keeps it on until the set time expires. Great product from a British company. Not flimsy, as one reviewer claims. The simple instructions are cleary written. I suspect that one or more of the one-star reviewers didn't read them. Of course, if you turn another nearby light on while the device is in operation, it will enterpret that light as 'dawn' and will restart its program when the nearby light is switched off.

Handy easy to use gadget
Love the dusk to dawn setting, helps greatly with my hallway light, I come home to a lit house after work. Very easy to use, setting are very easy.

Simple and effective; blissfully internet free!
Great bit of kit. I had had enough of a timer which could be scheduled - in theory! - through the internet. After this nightmare experience (I’m quite good with tech) I decided simple is best. It didn’t work at first but I think it was switching itself off after reflecting off a shelf. As soon as I slightly adjusted the angle it worked fine. The kitties once again have light if I’m not home when it gets dark. 😊

Won't work for a lamp
From the product info: "This timer will also deactivate if continuous light is detected for >8 seconds. Once the timer detects darkness for >8 seconds again, it will reactivate and restart the chosen programme." I missed that before I bought it. But that makes this thing worthless for controlling a lamp, which is what I, and I suspect most other people, will be looking for a device like this for.

The Perfect timer
Works amazingly if you understand how to use it!! I don’t leave many reviews but I liked this product a lot and some people reviewing them seem to not understand the concept of how a dusk till dawn photocell works, so it inspired me a little! A photocell detects light at a certain lux level. Usually natural light will be the deciding factor, but direct exposure to a bright enough bulb and/or at short distance will obviously trigger the photocell, which doesn’t know any better (at night time, if you shine a bright torch at an outdoor dusk till dawn light, it will turn off… ) So the bottom line is, if you use these timer plugs in a sensible way, they will work brilliantly. Like mine do. I use them on plugs that are, for example, underneath a table that a lamp is on, or down by the side of my couch where the light of the lamp doesn’t trigger it. I used it on an extension lead with no shelter from the lamp, but just made sure it was a couple of feet away from the light source and… it worked perfectly. Very clever twist on an existing product type. I plan to buy another for my xmas decorations, this will work perfectly in the shed!

Excellent product.
This timer is very easy to set and doesn’t click like the notch ones. You simply select how many hours you want it to stay on after dusk and that’s it! It switches our hall lamp on as the night draws in and off again after 8 hours. When the clocks change again in March there’ll be no need to fiddle around re-setting the time. I’m very pleased with it - in fact I’ve just ordered another for our kitchen lamp. Ordering was easy and it was delivered next day.
