Keeps kitchen garbage out of sight and smell
Bought this to replace the bowl we'd been keeping in the kitchen for compostable waste, which my husband took out every few days when it either got full or started to smell. I chose the small bin because we two retirees don't usually generate a lot of waste, and I didn't want a large bin collecting stuff for a longer time because then it would smell and/or release fruit flies when opened. It was easy to hang on a cupboard door, and it's easy to lift it off the hanger to set on the table when I'm sitting there cutting up veggies for soups, stews or salads. It's lightweight but seems sturdy. It's handy to be able either to open the lid at the front just to put in a banana peel or apple core or to lift the lid out of the way -- while it remains attached to the bin -- to drop in carrot peels, onion skins, pepper cores, etc., as I prepare a meal.Other reviewers wrote about fruit flies getting into the bin. They don't get in; female fruit flies lay eggs in the peels of bananas and citrus fruits while they're on the tree, and the larvae hatch and develop into adult flies in the bin. The lid assembly fits tightly enough -- even though it is just set on top of the bin -- to prevent their escape. When the bin is opened to deposit waste or remove the bag, they get out. This is a reason I wanted a smaller bin that would need more frequent emptying; the larvae don't have time to become flies that can escape and drive everyone nuts. They are very tiny; you can tell they're fruit flies by their bright red eyes. The only reason I gave this product four stars is that the company's larger bin is now available with modifications that I would have liked. It is sold as "Tiyafuro Upgraded 2.4 Gallon Kitchen Compost Bin with Inner Bucket...," and the inner bucket has fold-down handles that hold the bag neatly in place without it hanging over the outside of the bin.

not for compost unless you want maggots 🤢
I loved this product at first but I started having a problem with moisture. I changed the bag, wiped the inside down, but as soon as I put something in there, it got all gross again. Next thing I know, it was COVERED in maggots. No thank you. This would work great for cleaning countertops tho. Sturdy, sleek, and easy to work. Just don’t put any food in it.

Perfect size & no smell
This is exactly what I was looking for. The lid closes in 2 different ways, comes with compostable bags, and comes with an adhesive hanger. We’ve stuck this bin in the cabinet underneath our sink and we’ve never had a smell or ant problem. I really love that I don’t have to see it. It’s definitely a thicker plastic than I was expecting as well - very well made!

Great little bin
We love the little trash bin. We use it for composting. It's so handy, great size, comes with bags, scrapping tool and when you run out of bags, plastic grocery bags are Perfect. It doesn't fit on our cabinet doors the best but we should've checked that before hand.
