Frenchi Furniture Swivel Coat Rack Stand in Cherry Finish

Too bad, pieces fit together well--except the foot sections.
I returned this item because the (3) feet didn't attach securely to the post. On the surface that attaches to the post is a dowel at the top that you insert into a hole on the post. Then a screw secures the bottom part of the foot's surface to the post. No matter how much I tightened the screws, the feet wouldn't sit flush with the post--there was a 1/8" gap and this allowed the feet to wiggle.I was disappointed, because the post comes in three sections and the other sections connected very securely, and so did the (6) pegs at the top. If the feet secured as well, I'd be very happy with this. Otherwise I'd give it one star.

You get what you pay for
I purchased this coat rack a few months ago to hold coats near the front door of my home. It has served that purpose adequately, but there are three reasons I would recommend against purchasing this coat rack.1) The wood quality is poor. My coat rack has a few places where the wood was noticeably patched with putty before finishing.2) It comes in several pieces. The main pole comes in three pieces, the legs do not come attached, and you need to put the hooks on yourself as well. This is not necessarily a reason not to buy in and of itself, but on my coat rack the pieces do not fit together quite as seamlessly as I would have hoped.3) One of the hooks on my coat rack has begun to crack in half lengthwise. It hasn't actually broken yet, but I feel it is only a matter of time. (UPDATE - 9/2012: The hook has now broken off completely. Another one is cracked now.)If you're just looking for a cheap coat rack, this might be good enough. If you want something that you can rely on for years to come, buy something else.

Not perfect but not bad....
Not the best finished quality item but for under $20.00 what do you expect. The twist mechanically carved into the post was not finished on one side so not symmetrical but I was impressed by the ingenuity of design. Every piece screwed together with ease and it's more than strong enough for it's designed purpose if you don't abuse it. Also, a couple drops of Elmer's wood glue onto the dowels for the legs before screwing on makes the legs much stronger. It actually looks pretty classy from a distance. I'm happy, and I recommend the product to those who need a coat rack/hat hanger who are on a budget, and who don't expect perfection in an affordable product made in China.

Nice solid Wood Coat Rack that was difficult to assemble due to a missing notch
This coat rack is of fairly decent quality, is nice looking and seems to function well. I haven't tried winter coats on it yet but heavy sweatshirt jackets, a loaded purse, binoculars, hats etc. work fine. My issue was with the packaging and assembly. There was so much tape on the box that the very flimsy directions were stuck to the bottom of the box and they ripped with part unreadable. One of the base pieces did not fit into the other as the wood wasn't properly notched. Rather than trying to return it (the box it came in was unusable), I tried to notch out the piece myself with a screwdriver, hammer and exacto knife as I didn't have a hacksaw or wood chisel. Although I was successful, one time I ended up slipping making a 1" long scratch in the finish on the top of the base. I've put that leg towards the wall and you really can't see it. The wood is solid: the center pieces and pegs all have presunk screws and metal pieces that screw into eachother; the base pieces are notched (not all the way in my case) and just slide into each other. The finish is a lighter to medium oak. Even with the incomplete notching, I am pleased with the overall quality, finish and function as I have no coat closet @ our cabin and this keeps the coats, hats etc. off the furniture and tables.

Poorly built
This solid wood coat rack was built better than I expected. It is a happy addition to my home's entrance way.The above was written on 12/10/2013. I had given it 5 stars. Last week it broke when my granddaughter pulled the rug out from under it. So I ordered another one thinking I would get the same thing. I did not.The new one does not swivel like the old one. The old one's feet were dovetailed into the base with a cap underneath to hold them in place. The new one's feet are attached with screws and pegs. The bottom of the lowest shaft was cracked. But not enough to keep it from standing up. One of the arms at the top cracked as I screwed it in. It will now only hold something light like a hat.All-in-all this new one is not well constructed. I will probably keep it only because I don't want to bother with sending it back. But, if you haven't bought it yet, I suggest you look for another product and avoid this one.

Good value, nice quality for the price—no swivel.
I use this for my outdoor swim spa in NE, to hang heavy cotton robes. It’s sturdier than expected. I wish the base was a little larger and heavier. There is no swivel. That being said, for the price, it is very nice. Had held up in the ice and snow, most surprisingly.

Nice Light Duty Coat Rack At A Good Price
A nice looking coat rack. Not a piece of finely crafted high-end furniture as others have noted, but you would not be embarrassed to have this in your home either. The assembly of mine was super easy - literally just screw the pieces together in less than 5 minutes. I would rate this for light duty (light jackets, sweaters, and hats), as the pegs seem a bit light to support heavy coats over the long-haul. For light use (our need) and the low cost I would certainly recommend this coat rack.
