Best monaural headset you can get--but not very durable
I am very particular about headsets. This Panasonic headset has been my favorite headset ever, and I own at least 13 headsets (really). Unfortunately, mine developed a bad/intermittent contact somewhere, but I go through headsets like bottled water (only 6 of mine work). I bought another because I couldn't stand using my 'backups' anymore. I recommended it to 2 friends, and theirs are going strong, but they use theirs less. I use my headsets hard, often hours a day. The leatherette earpad is comfortable, and will not wear out & need to be replaced like foam covers will. This one has a good-length boom and mic gain. People don't say, "What? Talk louder." with this headset, and they like the way my voice sounds; in fact, I believe it is the same mic element in my older high-end (nice-sounding) KX-TC series Panasonic phone, because people can't tell a difference when I switch over. Receiving sound is also very good; not too weak or too strong, but if I had to choose, a little on the stronger/efficient side, which most people prefer. The headset doesn't feel delicate, but I guess it is, or at least some internal wiring is, as poor durability is reported. It's not an excuse, but you ~could~ buy 2 or 3 of these for the same price as more expensive models (even Panasonic) and still not get a headset as good-sounding or as comfortable. I have ruined headsets by rotating the mic to get it pointed more towards my mouth (I don't mean bending the boom). Don't do that. If you pull off the foam windscreen, you will notice that the mic is at a 45 deg angle when it is facing your mouth. This is actually proper from a sound engineering aspect. Everything which makes this headset larger, 'clunkier', 'mid school', 'unattractive', or 'uncool', or its lack of collapsibility serves to your advantage for good sound and comfort. Due to its size, it's not ideal to bring along for cellphone use, but if you do, while you have it on, you will be well-served. Like the previous reviewer, I have used/owned Plantronics (not Panasonic) headsets and they do not work well in my Panasonic and other home phones. The (Plantronics--I've used 3) mics simply do not produce enough gain, and the booms do not come out far enough to the mouth. So I use them as backups. Plantronics used to be the expensive quality leader, but their quality seems to have suffered in recent years, and prices remain high. Panasonic has been the only brand to consistently do right by me on many products. Amzn price on this item fluctuates. Anything in the low tens is a great price online, anything in the mid tens is the best price you'll see in a store, and the high tens is typical store price. This has a 2.5mm mini-plug for use in cell and home phones, not computer sound cards. Headsets are made in China, like everything else we depend on.

I can't believe how well this works for under $5
My order showed up quicker than I expected (was not Amazon Prime eligible, so cost a few dollars shipping), i plugged it into my wireless handset and got to work. I've been using this headset for about two months now. First impressions: Much more substantial than I expected. Does not feel like a bargain bin product at all. Heavier duty plastics and cord than I anticipated. Much higher quality product than multiple earbuds I've purchased at twice the price. Fit: This is probably the least impressive feature of the unit. it's perfectly comfortable, but do not expect it to feel as secure as a nice set of double hear headphones or anything. It stays on my head just fine , adjusts just enough to probably fit anyone. The earpiece is on a swivel that's pretty free floating, so you may not find it staying in the 'perfect' adjustment for you, but the speaker is plenty good to where you will hear the other party just fine. Function: This is the area that I'm am so impressed with. The speaker, as mentioned above, is plenty loud and clear. The mic works extremely well. I've asked people on the other end of the line how I sound, and they say they can't tell I'm not on the handset itself. The boom can be located directly in front of my mouth, or two inches above or below, and no difference on the sound transmission. I am in awe that this sub-$5 product works so ridiculously well. Quality: Materials feel great for a sub $5 product. They are not high end metals and leathers, it's all synthetic of course. Nothing has broken even though my 5 year old kid plays with it all the time. I throw it on the desk from several feet away constantly, not worried about anything breaking. I don't see what could go wrong with it at this point unless I intentionally abuse it. Overall Impression: As you can tell, I'm impressed. Sound quality is so much better than a blue tooth solution, and so much simpler. My wife and friends make fun of me for going back 10 years in technology, but it works better and easier than the new technology, and cost me essentially nothing. It's easy to drop my handset in my pocket, wear this headset, and walk around while talking. If this product breaks one day I hope it is still available as I will purchase again without hesitation. I should have bought two or three at the time of purchase just for that reason. There is no reason not to purchase this product unless you are concerned with looking like a call center agent while using.

One of the best bargains I've found for a telephone headset
I spend much of my day on the telephone, so I've gone through several headsets over the years. Based on the price, I bought this one as my "backup" for the next time my primary goes out. I always hate paying $20-$35 at the retail stores because those headsets barely last a year. I've had this Panasonic over a month now, and it has become my primary headset. It fits well, and no one has any trouble hearing or understanding me on my calls. I took one star off for durability because it feels stiff, so I constantly feel it's about to break. I took one off for usability because the cord is a little shorter than I'd like, but it is also a little longer than you get on the ones in the store. Other than those two minor things, I love this headset and highly recommend it. I'm planning to pick up another one as "backup" on my next order because you can't beat it for the price. Update 02/27/2012 I'm still using the one I bought in November 2009. I work from home, and this headset is used every workday, often for several hours at a time. It has held up without problems. I have made it a habit to clip the wire to my shirt or collar every time I use it, because I noticed most headsets fail at the connection between the wire and the earpiece. By using this clip to reduce strain on the wire, I haven't had any problems with this one, and it has now officially lasted longer than any other headset I've used. I did order a "backup" in 2009, but that one is still here, unopened. Update 10/14/2012 Well, the one I bought in November 2009 finally broke about 2 weeks ago. As expected, the failure was the connection between the wire and the earpiece, which is where most of these headsets fail. But I still think $10 for almost 3 years of constant use still makes these a great bargain. I'm currently using the backup I bought previously, and my experience has been the same. I also bought another backup. This will probably be the last update I put for this review unless the 2 I have fail miserably. Having repaired a number of the wiring breaks on earlier headsets I've owned, I'm more convinced than ever that the key to longevity is keeping the weight of the wire from hanging freely from the earpiece.

Great product...while it lasts.
I will start by saying that even though this product does 'burn out' about every 5-6 months, and need to be replaced, that the quality of this item during its life span is fantastic. I have probably purchased about 6 of these since my initial purchase in 2008, at a cost of roughly $8.50-$10.00. I use this product in conjunction with my Panasonic Cordless Phone (Panasonic DECT 6.0-Series Dual-Handset Cordless Phone System with Answering System (KX-TG1032S) and it works beautifully. The volume is superb, it is very comfortable for all day use, you can choose the ear that you want to have the phone over and then swing the headband to switch sides if you need to. Additionally, the microphone quality is unmatched in my personal experience. I have never, not even once, had someone say that they were having difficulty hearing me. The clarity of the call quality (both to hear and be heard) of this product are highly recommended by me. This product would receive 5 stars all day long if they could make it so that it does not burn out so often. There is no guessing game with this unit. When it is done, it just starts cracking up and sounds like a bad connection. Do yourself a favor, recycle the unit, and purchase this same unit again. I know that this sounds crazy to recommend a product that dies that often, but trust me, the call quality is THAT good! I always order two at a time and leave one in storage so that when they go bad it doesn't slow me down. For the small investment of about $20 a year (2 headsets/plus shipping), I am guaranteed hands free convenience and excellent sound quality. Works for me. Happy Chatting!

Worst headset ever, even with Panasonic phones. Not worth 10 cents, let alone 10 dollars.
There's a reason why, as of December, 2014, when I bought this, Amazon had stopped selling this headset, directly, but rather only through other vendors, due to people having returned pairs, so much so that Amazon considered it to be too bad to sell -- probably because they were losing money on replacing them. They had a big, fat warning about that, right on this page. I should have heeded that, because they were correct. I guess some people got "lucky" with their headsets, out-of-the-box, but it won't last long, I guarantee that. On my first attempt to use this piece of garbage, EVERY move of the boom microphone causes painful static, until you get it in just the right position. That makes for some very awkward openings to conversations, because it takes a minute or two to get it into good position. Because it was (and is, at the time of this writing), the top-selling headset on Amazon, I went ahead and got this, along with a Panasonic KX-TCA-400. That set is OK, but not comfortable, for long, and only does well when the boom is RIGHT next to your mouth, which is pretty awkward, too, and as with most headsets, it tends to shift, during use. At least is is usable, though. I mention that for a number of reasons regarding this KX-TCA60. First, I wouldn't even be able to use this piece of garbage for a few minutes, given that every adjustment requires both parties to hear loud static, with every shift and even the slightest boom adjustment. I've seen others here mention the "great quality," but clearly, they have never used a decent headset, must be comparing it to bad Bluetooth sets, or they got a pair in which the boom wires hadn't broken, yet, before they opened the box. If some pairs don't even make it to the first use, I doubt any set's wiring is durable enough for more than a few long conversations. Customers must have been pretty upset, to deal with returning a $10 item, so often. Second, even if one does get lucky with the wiring, the set is VERY uncomfortable, for a couple reasons: 1) the speaker's size is so small, it would barely fit a three-year-old's ear comfortably (which makes for more adjusting); and 2) you also have to put the boom right in front of your mouth, and with the ridiculously-large, spherical, clown-nose-like size and shape of the boom, it rubs against your mouth, all the time, causing more noise. It feels like you're trying to eat a little sponge. It is also visually annoyingand distracting, because from the user's perspective, AT LEAST, it looks like there's a black clown nose, right beneath your eyes. I suppose, if you have a lot of experience playing children's parties, you might not mind that, but if you aren't employed by a (literal) circus or entertain children, on the weekends, you'll be fantastically annoyed. This headset is unbearably bad, or will become so, with the static, very quickly -- even if you are a clown.

Very good, inexpensive, telephone headset
I spend many hours per week on calls for my job. I use any number of methods to do that, and one that is used frequently is a headset. I have gone through a number of headsets over the years, some expensive ones - some cheap ones. This Panasonic KX-TCA60 is a great little headset that is extremely inexpensive, but does the job very well. WHAT I LIKE: - Light weight. So light, that you don't notice it on much at all. This is important if you're on a 4 hour conference call! - Comfortable ear pad. The leather(ish) padded ear pad is like those found on much more expensive sets. It provides long-term comfort and also gives you a good seal so that you hear the call clearly. - Good quality mic. After using this headset on several business calls, I asked some people how it sounded. They said I sounded perfect - nice and clear. The mic boom is bendable and it swivels, so it is easy to find the perfect spot for it and move it as necessary. The windscreen is nice too, and helps your voice sound good. - Sound quality is very good. I am able to clearly hear the other person(s) on the call very well, with a nice rich tone to their voices - not tinny sounding. - Good cord length. The cord is long enough to allow comfortable movement after you set the phone down. It also has a clip that you can use to attach to your shirt to prevent the "pulled the headset off my head" accident from happening. - The 90 degree connector is good - it minimizes the amount sticking out from the phone, and you can swivel it to get optimal cord direction. - Does not pinch. There is so little pressure against your head that you can wear it all day. I've had some that give me a headache after a couple hours because they have too much tension. WHAT COULD BE IMPROVED: - Really just one thing - the fitting of the headset is made for larger heads. I wear it at the smallest possible setting and it *barely* fits right. It fits... but just barely. Meanwhile, it expands enough to go on a pumpkin. I'd like to see a notch or two the other way for smaller heads. I purchased this headset for under $10. At that price it is top notch. I would take away 1/2 star for the sizing factor, but I won't remove a whole star for that... so.... five stars!

Great headset at a superb price
We have one of those all-you-can call long-distance plans for calling in Canada and the United States, and having a large family across the country you end up making a lot of long distance calls. It's not convenient to use the handset all the time, especially when you are on the phone for 4-5 hours at a time. We purchased two headsets about 3-years ago and literally used them until they were not usable. So I started looking for inexpensive headsets, but were of good quality -- yes, that may be an oxymoron but there are some real hidden gems out there. I gravitated towards Panasonic because this is what we used previously and my wife is a stickler for brand names and wanted something that would be more "like" our Panasonic cordless phone. Searching Amazon the Panasonic KX-TCA60 was one of the first headsets I found and it was virtually identical to a previous model we had bought which was foldable and had a volume control, and one touch mute button on it -- but that headset was also over $25.00 and we wanted to buy 2-3 this time so we don't have to keep looking for one. I'll admit one of the deciding factors was price - at under $10.00 (I think we paid $9.00 and change) I could buy 2 or 3 of the headset for the cost of the one premium one we bought (from a box retail outlet). The KX-TCA60 had over 2,000 reviews -- which was important, but not a deciding factor, I looked at dozens of reviews. Many were good 4 or 5 stars but there were quite a few with 1, 2 or 3 stars -- each tells you a story about what people expect. Because we're buying on Amazon you can't really try the headset on for feel so some of the reviews were very important, and looking at the picture available also was helpful -- though more pictures would be better, this low-cost headset probably didn't warrant too much work and now as there are thousands of positive reviews it practically sells itself! The headset was identical to the premium model we bought a few years ago, less the inline volume control (which we've never used) and the one-touch mute (which would have been nice to have, but not necessary). The important parts were the ear piece and headband because my wife uses it regularly and for long periods of time. As both were identical to the previous one we bought we decided to go ahead and buy this one and placed our order. Now some people complained that they didn't get it in the retail packaging however we rec'd both items in its full retail packaging and well packed. The headset was exactly as we expected. My wife tried it on right away, and found it was as comfortable as the $25.00 headset we had just thrown away and the headband was adjustable as well. The microphone was also adjustable and came out a fair distance so you could speak into it and the person on the other end could hear you clearly. We bought the headset in November 2013 and it gets frequent and constant use (in excess of 10-hours per week) and it still works like it's new. I would never expect consumer versions of headsets to work as well as commercial versions (FYI - I manage a busy call center where we buy headsets that are over $100.00) but these are a hidden gem. We got 3-years out of our first headset, and I would expect we'll get the same from this one. Needless to say my wife is very happy with the headset and is glad that we bought one more spare.

Okay headset but not for the long-term
I just received my headset and used it for a few calls between my Panasonic KX-TGA660 land line handsest and a cell phone. I could hear the person on the other end very clearly. We switched phones and I was surprised how good it sounded on the other end. You wouldn't be able to tell someone was using this. The earpiece is foamy and fits nicely over my ear so it works to cancel out sound for that ear. I was concerned that a headset would dampen the sound quality or introduce crackle or static but this wasn't the case. Prior to purchasing this headset, I was considering a Bluetooth enabled earpiece but was concerned about remembering to charge it (or losing a call when I inevitably and inadvertently forget to charge it) and I was worried the sound quality would be poor based on prior experience with a Bluetooth-enabled receiver; in other words, "range" anxiety with respect to battery charge and sound. I like how you can leave the headset plugged into the receiver and it still rings when you get calls. You don't have to plug the headset in and unplug it each time. I wasn't totally aware of this at first, but the boom microphone that sticks out is adjustable (as stated in the description) but what it means is that you can bend it outward or inward from your mouth. Additionally, it has the flexibility similar to the refill cartridge inside a disposable pen. If you hold it for a sec it stays in the shape you bend it (except for curly Qs and such, of course). Two things I wish were better: I'm concerned the headband part is a little delicate and I'm going to be very careful with it because it's plastic. I wish I had another pair to bend a lot and put through the ringer so that I could get a sense of how careful to be, but I'll just play it safe and don't bend it too much. The plastic is also very stiff so I'm hoping that with long phone calls I don't get pinch pain on the other side. Besides those two items of concern I think this will be a great headset with long-term use. Update: 5-1-2015 A few months ago the plastic headband broke but I was still able to keep the headset on my ear. (My head is 7 3/8" so maybe my head is too big.) The sound also started cutting in and out; call recipients would complain my speech would cut out and couldn't hear me. Since the headset was cheap and lasted 16 months, I suppose I got what I paid for. However, I will probably purchase a different headset that hopefully lasts longer. I will probably try for an over the ear type.

Yo oigo bien y a mí me oyen bien.

Works Well For Hours a Day.
I have a Panasonic wireless handset for a number of years. Just recently, I've taken on a position where I can work from home. Needless to say, I'm on the phone alot. I've had these set for a number of months and on most business days, I'm on the phone for 2-3 hours a day. While basic, the headset has performed flawlessly. The cord length is ample. The headset rests comfortably on the ears for hours at a time. The sound is crisp and microphone is clear. The sheer simplicity of the headset is what I believe will make it last a fairly long time. There is no volume switch but that is easily controlled on the wireless handset. Also, there is no mute button but that is also easily controlled on the wireless handset. You can't beat the price.
