Not changing my xp ,to good ,if it works don't change it

IS FTDI, still not a null modem cable. Expect rework
In contrast to another review from 2023, the product I received had an FTDI chip and 8 wires. Perhaps they ordered a different product, or more likely the seller has changed the product since 2023. Either way, while it's a relief to see FTDI on the chip and in Device Manager, the wiring doesn't match any "null modem" pinouts I can find online. I was planning on rewiring this product anyway, but if you are after null modem wiring specifically please expect to do some soldering if you buy this. At least the metal DB25 connector and USB connector's poorly-glued clamshell make access for rework easy. At this price point for genuine FTDI on a rare connector, the annoyance is a feature. Soldi ben spesi per usare la mia stampante con questa piccola e comoda interfaccia USB - RS232. The product works well with the Epson TM-U295 printer. The connector for the printer is made of metal. After the software installation it is necessary to restart the computer. Money well spent using my printer with this little USB - RS232 interface.

Used for different purpose and rewired myself
I bought this cable, found that it's actually only for a specific device and not generically wired. It was a great quality cable, so I decided to rewire it myself (such cables aren't easy to find) - it works great now. Price was good, quality nice. Five stars.

Works on TRS-80 Model 102
It's pretty much the only USB to DB25 null model cable on Amazon, but, hey, it works. No issues connecting my Windows laptop to my TRS-80 Model 102 at 1200 baud.

Not FTDI, Not a null modem cable
Basically everything in the description of this is a lie. The cable I received does NOT use a FTDI usb-serial converter, it instead has a Prolific part. Additionally, despite the picture of the cable-end internals which clearly shows control-signals wired (DCD, CTS), the cable I received has only 3 connected pins. Ground, TX, and RX. The actual wire used has plenty of conductors, the unused ones have just been chopped off. I specifically need CTS/RTS flow control for my older device. Which is part of what makes a null modem cable a null modem cable. At best, this is just a TX/RX crossover cable. What garbage.
