Would i have to add a thinner to brush it on smoother?

I bought the thinner and did NOT need it for a smooth and shiny application. It is a slow cure/dry process and self levels pretty nicely.

Can I use this primer and the topside paint on the hull of a wood and canvas canoe?

No. You'll need a flexible paint. Contact TotalBoat and ask if there is an additive you could use. The Automotive world has such an additive for painting the flexible bumper covers with enamel.

Can this product be used on concrete?

It probably can, although I would probably choose a product that was intended for concrete

Can it be used on bare cast iron?

I really don't know but I would imagine that it would. We used it on bare treadplate and it worked very well - even better than I expected. After one year of heavy use, it still looks good.
