Is it faux fur on the hood?

Yes and the hood never sat well, I ended up removing it

Are the waterproof or water resistant?

I bought two of these for my daughter. White and mint green. She does ski but does not wear these for that. Yes they are waterproof and very nice - almost dressy looking. I originally bought them for skiing but she wears for dress up and work. I was a little ticked about the green one taking 5 months to get. when it was supposed to be in stock.
