I understand this bulb contains mercury. How do I dispose of the old one?

Check with your municipal and county governments which sometimes have recycling programs for CFLs and other bulbs containing mercury. Also check with your local home improvement retailers. In my area, Home Depot recycles these bulbs. Thank you for being aware of the problem.

When it was time to change the bulb did the UV light flash and beep like when the filter needs changed?

Yes. The UV light symbol on top will flash and it will beep, but I changed my UV lamp and it continued beeping and flashing
