Organic Restaurant Grade Lumpwood BBQ Charcoal for Barbecues and Pizza Ovens, 30L

Purchased for family BBQ. This has to be the best charcoal I have ever used. Unlike other charcoal, it burns really well over a long period of time. The heat output was very good and consistent and I was left with a pile of ash, rather than blocks of unburnt charcoal. Intend to only use this going forwards. Very happy with purchase.

I've moved from supermarket smoking spitting cheap coal to proper charcoal that lights with a sheet of paper and produces no smoke. The problem is this type of charcoal likes to be on an open BBQ and needs a bit of a jiggle to remove and ash and open the coal to fresh air. The charcoal from a local source used sycamore, which is superb if you like to keep moving it about, lots of ash, no smoke and no spitting. I tried alderline, good but the same as the local stuff. Plenty of huge pieces. The marienburg is slightly better than the other two if you use a kettle and cook with the lid on. It doesn't ash up as much. It does however spit a bit more. Not as bad a supermarket stuff though. If cooking with the lid on, a few kicks to the BBQ legs every 10 mins is good enough. Burn time is acceptable and adding more coal during cooking soon add extra hear. It is ready to cook on in 10 minutes or so. This stuff is very light. Ignore any comments about the weight. You get a big bag full. It chinks beautifully when lit. Way better than charcoal briquettes!

Overall it was good, easy to light up, no special smell. But I was a bit surprised with the weight when I received it which was very light in such a big bag. The charcoal inside is quite broken into small pieces. This is good to light up but not good for lasting. I expect it can last for the whole BBQ but not. It burnt up quite fast into ash. Other than this, it's good.

Lights very well and has a long burn

It looks the part and is very lightweight, comparable to other premium lumpwood charcoal, but the heat performance is incredibly poor. I was trying to find a similar alternative to Green Olive charcoal for around the same price, this stuff is 10x worse. I started with a small BBQ for 4 people and used the same amount I would with Green Olive and other lumpwoods. It got hot at first but the heat dropped away within 5 minutes and I had to finish the food off in the oven. Assuming it was just less effective and I needed to use more I loaded the BBQ up with more lumpwood than I thought I would need for a BBQ for 7 people. Exactly the same - even though the BBQ was full of fuel, the head dropped in 5 minutes and it didn't even cook the first batch, let alone the other 3 batches of food I would have been able to cook with a decent product. Avoid!

Burns easily but quickly. The coals get good and hot but not for very long. Good for grilling a few burgers on the BBQ but not suitable for cooking anything more complicated as the heat doesn’t last. They disintegrate into a fine ash before you know and you’d end up using twice as much. I wouldn’t recommend for slow roasting or smoking meat. And, if you know how to “braai” then simply forget about using these coals.

This is an excellent product. I was looking for a good charcoal which would provide good long lasting heat for my Ooni Pizza Oven. The charcoal pieces are very well sized which allows them to hold their heat for a considerable time. My oven was at the required temperature for perfect pizza in 15 minutes. This product is actually quite expensive, however, worth the extra cost for the real deal.

Non avrei mai pensato di scrivere una recensione sui carboni, ma: questi carboni sono pieni di polvere e incredibilmente sporchi da maneggiare, bruciano velocemente e in modo non uniforme con molti punti caldi e producono molta cenere volante. Sono tutto ciò che si cerca di evitare nel carbone per barbecue.

30l, schwer nachzuvollziehen erscheint aber recht wenig, viel gekrümel im Sack, würde ich nicht wieder bestellen
