The Tattoo Chronicles

Let me first say that the cover is super cool. It's a textured, red hardcover unlike any other book I've purchased. I loved learning about Kat Von D and loved looking at all the tattoos. If you liked her back when she had tattoos you will love this book.

Preordered this book, have read her first book too, loved them both.This book does a wonderful job of telling about tattoos and chronicles them with feelings, stories, and photos. If you are a fan of the show, yes you have seen some of them before, but the stories and her feelings about them are all new. Her personal collection is also on display, cool weird stuff that gives you an insite into who she is. Also bonus that I did not expect was excerpts from her real life love story intertwinned. I though it was brave and quite interesting, lots of the book is about her interactions or really lack there of with Nikki Six.I am totally facinsated with the dynamic of how her love life, work life, and feelings are intertwinned in this book. This book was way more than expected, it is a VERY PERSONAL and real pictation of life from someone her age grappling with life lessons.Someone looking for a tattoo artsy book, this is that and way more. I totally apperciate her laying her feelings out there for people to read, and how she deals with heavy feelings in everyday life. I thought is was amazing and very well done.Visually stunning and heart felt. Can't wait fo her next book!

After reading the negative reviews on this book I was almost afraid to buy it! But after reading the first few pages, UM all I could think was WTF is wrong with the ppl who were so negative about this book!? I love the review about how Kat forgot who she is blah blah whatever, after personally meeting her a few times I can say I don't see that being the case. After meeting her at the Tattoo Chronicles book tour signing I couldn't even believe how nice she was, Stated on the book signing sites it says the usual about no posed photos ect. And you'd think that like at any book signing she'd be sitting at a table, she'd sign your book and you'd move on.. NOPE this was the BEST book signing i'd ever been too! She stood the WHOLE time, personally talked to everyone she signed the book for AND posed for pictures. Pretty sure she hasn't 'forgotten who she is'! I personally can't wait to read the rest of the book!

But I'm glad I did. After reading the book and the reviews, I re-read the description to see if I missed something - "The Tattoo Chronicles is an illustrated diary that offers an intimate look at a crucial year in the personal and professional life of Kat Von D."There are pictures of the tatoos Kat has given on almost every page. There are stories about her clients on almost every page. In between are bits and pieces of journal entries about what was going on in her life during this time period. I'm not sure what the negative reviewers were expecting, but this book is exactly as described.If you don't like Kat and LA Ink, don't waste your money on the book. If you do like Kat and LA Ink, you'll like the book.

An amazing book. It's better than the first. I love the awesome array of tattoos and the stories behind them. But also pictures of the people who hold those tattoos and stories. It's a great find for anyone interested in a behind the curtains peek into the Hollywood tattoo scene.

When I read all of the negative reviews on here I am wondering if these people are reading the same book I am. I absolutley love this book! Maybe I had different expectations of what the book would be about, but I truly appreciate her honesty and for publishing something so personal. It is her personal journal over the past year and a half so of course there is a lot of stuff about Nikki in it, because he was a big part of her life then. I would recommend this to anyone!

I ordered 3 books on Saturday and all 3 arrived on Monday (2 days later) - without special shipping, or 2-day shipping or anything....I love this book so much because there's so much about her & Nikki Sixx's relationship within it and if I can't have Nikki, Kat has always been the ONLY OTHER PERSON on the planet that I'd be okay with because their love was really beautiful (from what LA Ink showed and from what I've read.....)

My biggest issue with this book was that 50% of it was about Nikki Sixx... I understand when you're in love all you want to do is talk about them constantly, and be with them 24/7 and so on and so forth, but in the early chapters is was apparent that she was obsessed... like a whiny love sick teenager. She even acknowledges this about half way through.When you are someone like Kat, with such a huge platform and so many clients and inquiries about tattoos that you literally can't do every single idea that comes to you and you have to pick and choose what you execute, I would have liked to seen even more of the people she tattoos, their stories, and actually seen the tattoo itself, or maybe why she turns some of them down, or some of the strangest or random tattoos/stories. I'm sure she's got quite a few. There were a handful of people's stories without photo representation of their tattoos. But it seemed like every tattoo she did on Nikki Sixx was in there... down to a SMALL "I love you" on one of his thumbs and a row of dots on the other. (No hate towards Nikki, I'm a fan if his as well, and greatly appreciated his own book.) so much of the book was just dedicated to him..That being said, it's a great quality book. The hardcover is beautiful with engravings. Beautiful vibrant photos. Interesting stories. Inspiring quotes.
