Q: So these sensors are only motion based? Someone can literally smash out a window and climb through unless there is a glass break sensor within 20ft?

Rather than buy glass break sensors for all of my windows, I have window sensors on all the windows and a motion detection sensor in each room. I have rooms with four and five windows. It saves money and does the same job.

Q: if I put it in my car a connect it then drive off and return within range, will it automatically reconnect to the home base?

You can disconnect and reconnect it by using the keypad.

Q: are these compatible with nest security systems

This is a simple magnetic switch that communicates with the Simplisafe base station. Not 100% sure but I suspect it is proprietary to the Simplisafe system. You might want to contact Nest with this question.
