I was really squeamish to try inexpensive self-tanning products. I've only ever used Clarins, which is one of the best in the industry, but who really wants to pay $50-60 for a few ounces of self-tanner? Now that I'm in grad school I have to pinch pennies, so Clarins is not an option. The Banana Boat Deep Dark Color on most websites always had really high reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. Very quick fulfillment from the seller through Prime - I ordered this on a Friday afternoon and it arrived on my door Tuesday morning. I used it yesterday on my legs and within 4 hours my legs had an even, dark, natural-looking tan! I could totally tell the difference because I didn't do my lower ankles or feet (since I hadn't exfoliated) and it looked like I had a sock line! I didn't think the first application would give so much color, but it did! It does have that weird self-tanner smell but it's not too powerful. This morning I shaved my legs and thought the tanner would come off completely. It didn't. You could see some of it coming off the razor but after my shower my legs just looked a little lighter. I was relieved to find the tan was still visible and still even, no razor lines. Looks like this should be a low-maintenance way too keep my legs looking sun kissed all summer! Having glowing legs really boosted my mood - the tan sort of evens out your skin and keeps your leg veins from being visible. Give your skin this gift and STOP ruining your skin in tanning beds, ladies!

I’ve tried everything under the sun for self tanning especially when I was pregnant and everything I’ve ever used is orange or streaky etc. this comes in a dark shimmer as well but I only get the one that looks like a white lotion when you apply it. You run it on just like lotion and use a decent amount like you’re moisturizing. Rub it in evenly all over until its mostly absorbed into the skin, just be careful around the ankle abs elbow areas I always kinda of brush my hands on those parts after I’ve already done my body that way it’s still on my hands but just moistened enough to give it slight color without it leaving the ankle and elbow area darker or orange looking. Just one use of this changes your color dramatically (in a good brown way) and it last about a week but if you reapply it for a few days you’ll be set for a few weeks! I only apply it at night that way when I shower in the morning the color has already set in and you’re ready to go😁 I love using it on my face too! It’s the most natural looking self tanner I’ve come across and I’ve been using it for years I just hate that I can’t find it in stores anymore but was thankful to find it on here!

I tried this for the first time when I was on vacation in Florida. I wasn't getting nearly dark enough from laying in the sun on a daily basis. As a very pale person who burns easily, using the Deep Dark color from Banana Boat has changed my life! Even though I am pale, it works much better than the light/medium. I get compliments all the time and people actually think it's the real deal, that I am using a tanning bed. I can wear pastels and neon colors like never before. I have never streaked, despite my overall laziness and lack of detail with application. I usually mix it 50/50 with another moisturizer to extend the product and to get better skin moisturizing during the drier months. I only need to use it a couple times a week to maintain it. My only issue I have with it is that it definitely smells like a bronzer, if you know what they usually smell like. Overall a $15 tube that lasts me a couple months is better than damaging my skin with UV Rays.

I really really love this self tanner. It is inexpensive, does not streak and looks completely natural on my skin. With other self tanners I used before, after a day or maybe after the second shower I took after using self tanner, they used to kind of rub off on certain parts of my body, so that it looked like I had some kind of skin problems or something, white spots and so on. But with this one, no matter how many showers I take after the initial night that I let it soak in, it does not rub off...if anything it fades after a while, just like a real tan would. It is easy to apply, the only thing that bothered me after applying it was the smell, but I understand that there is probably no self tanner in the world that will not smell a little bit. After taking a shower the next morning, the smell was gone anyway. I apply regular lotion and let that dry for about 30 minutes before I apply the self tanner. Specially on my knees, ellbows, knuckles and ankles. It comes out perfectly even and doesnt look orangy at all. I would recommend this product to anyone, specially since real tanning is damaging your skin. Great product. Great price.

I bought this item so I wouldn't need to tan in the booths as much because I love to be tan. I put a thin layer on and it gave me a great glow the next day, after a shower is always better since you smell fresh and self tanners always leave a little tint on your palms and between your fingers, after you shower though your good. I put this on my face since that's the one place that's hard for me to tan and it looked great very natural color. Since I'm already tan this works great I don't know how this would work if your pale wanting to be tan. I'm naturally really pale but tan with a good lotion. Like I said I'm using this for the upkeep of my tan so I don't need to tan as much. Great product I would recommend! If you are going to plan on using this a lot id buy 2 since it will go fast doing your entire body all the time. Can't beat the price!

First foray into tanning cream, as I'd always before thought it was girlish. Found this stuff upon searching for good tanning cream for men. Smell is very Banana-Boatish, and not too bad at all...compared to the stuff my wife uses. Goes on very smoothly and easily. Does not feel sticky. If you wash your hands right after, will not stain your hands. Also, don't shower right after, or it washes away most of it (duh). Seems to keep a good base color for about 3-4 days, which works for me. Not orange-ish...a good, natural hue. My only issue is that it gets into the cuticles of my toenails and stains them sometimes, and also it gets dark in the wrinkles/folds around knees/toes, etc. I'm guessing that's just an application issue on my end, though. Really like this stuff.

I am updating my review after trying the product over the last month. I followed the s uggestions sent by other users. It seems to be less of a self tanner and more of a daily application after-shower bronzer/moisturizer. Even with use now over several weeks and I have started a second tube, I'm not any tanner now. Even after applying in the morning after showering, the color washes off my skin after the next shower. The Product does give a good bronze when it is on. I am careful to not sweat or wipe - as it will wash off and it does stain light color clothing in the tighter fitting areas. It also has stained my pillowcase and bed sheets - except when I take a second daily shower - before retiring for the night. I applied the product as instructed, making certain to carefully cover evenly and completely. The color helps to guide application and the product does not smell unpleasant at all. After going about my day, I used a damp white washcloth to pat my face and I was very surprised to find the bronze color transferred to the washcloth quite heavily. I then took a full shower and immediately noticed a lot of bronze color sweep across the tub and down the drain when I first stepped in. After my shower, I noticed no tan...none whatsoever! Except for a couple knuckles on my left hand, I couldn't tell I even used a bronzer. NEXT DAY...same thing...same result! Maybe it's me? Maybe my skin will not absorb the self tanner? I think I applied enough. In fact, I used more than half the tube. I even tried to tan my face 4 times...with no noticeable result. I will try another product. This one just did not do much of anything for me. My skin tone is fair to medium. Still.

Lightly tinted and you can see a difference immediately. My face never tans, it goes from white to red to white. But with this I actually get compliments that I do look nicely tanned without looking orange. Highly recommend
