What adhesive is recommended to be used on a metal roof?

Accepted Answer

A direct to metal designed for metal roof installation. Got mine at the hardware store. It’s actually window sealant for metal frames, but it has poly-elastomers to help with flex. Or contact Mueller Metal Buildings, they can steer you in the right direction.

Question 2

What  type  and length screws should iI use to attach your #3 flasher to a metal roof?

For a standard metal roof application, a good general size would be 1-1/2" length self-drilling or self-tapping screw.  Screw installation should be every 1" to 1-1/2" around the aluminum base of the Flasher.

Why are these drastically more expensive than the exact same product literally everywhere else? Seems like price gouging to me.

Hello Sam.  Thank you for your interest in our product.  When comparing, please be sure you are equating apples to apples.  Are the other products you see offering free freight as we do?  Or is it added on with a handling fee at the time of checkout?  Also, note the difference in pricing depending on what size you are looking for.  Our smallest size (#1) costs a fraction of what our largest size (#9) does.   Our competitor's products follow suit.  Likewise comparing EPDM Rubber to High-Temperature Silicone Rubber, there is a price difference.  Please be assured, we review pricing frequently and are very competitive in the market.

Question 4

I was told not to use any boot jack that contains lead on steel metal roof as this may cause a electro reaction, does this item contain lead?

Keep in mind to properly mount this you should be using a liberal amount of sealant tape, so the "contact" points will be the screws only not the boot itself or metal frame. Again If mounting correctly your 25 yr metal roof warranty will be expired before you have any problems. Do not over tighten your installation screws! I personally installed on my garage metal roof works great. Plenty of proper installation videos on YouTube too!
