Worked perfectly to convert my old Japanese road bike to a flat bar.

If you want to upgrade from friction shifters to indexed shifters, this is a good alternative in the absence of braze-on lugs. I like the way the mount/clamp is hinged...instead of the traditional/original metal shifter clamp that usually has to be bent to get around the downtube. It's sturdy and constructed well. The adapters that are included for various size frame tubing ensure a good fit. The only drawback is that the thickness of the mount/clamp causes both shifters to stand off the downtube about a quarter inch (~6.3mm) more on each side than they do with the traditional/original clamp style. I used this mount with Shimano index downtube shifters. The shifters work as they should, it's just that they stand off the downtube a bit farther than usual. If you're OK with that then this is a very good product for the price.

The overall quality is fine although they are a little on the large side. The problem is the fit. Trying to install with ~1985 Shimano Dura Ace 7400 indexing downtube shifters. This product did not work. First problem was the boss was too large. I trued to sand it down and it began to fit but was a pain most people would not have the tools to sand it flat. Second problem was the boss was too short with The installation of the boss cover. So I tried to sand that down and it just did not work out.

This adapter works very well. You can install it on the down tube or on the handlebar. I choose to mount the adapter on the stem.It works perfectly with my Sturmey Archer 3 speed shifter and Shimano hub. I love it!

Did not use the shims. It protrudes from the downtube a little more than I had hoped, but it clamped securely and the frictions shifter that I had, attached to it cleanly. Its a little pricey for what it is and I wasnt thrilled with the black finish, but overall its works as advertised

The studs for attaching the down tube shifters were too short, the mounting screws on my shifter would not engage. Very disappointing. The studs need to be 2-3 mm longer. Not a true universal fit.

Very useful for letting you hookup shifters to unusual areas not originally meant for the bike.
