Wonderful
Just as described, not new of course and the cover has tape on the spine. All the pages are clearly legible and completely usable. I’m very happy with my purchase.

Great book, but continue blank pages, missing important steps for projects.
I love this book, but there are blank pages right in the middle of the steps of three of the projects. 8 blank pages so far, that contain crucial steps to completing the projects. Not sure if it’s just my copy? Will be returning

Great read. Very happy to add this to my bookshelf.
Fun stuff. If you haven't seen this book first-hand, it's worth the purchase. The handwritten "font" that the book is written in is over the top: kinda hard to scan/skim and not enough white space on the pages. But the furniture and living space designs are fun, and the book is very informative on designing load-bearing furniture. It'll definitely give you some new ideas about elegant/efficient design. It'll also make you say: My gosh, they've been doing this same type of furniture for how many years, now? (some of the "new" designs are old as the hills, it turns out.)

Some useful ideas amongst a whole bunch of dated concepts
I was a still bit disappointed despite being forewarned by the negative reviews:- presentation: bad old 70's black and white style (photos are blurry gray scales), despite a recent reprint and modern prices.- info presented in roundabout folksy narrative and written in artsy (i.e. illegible) manual CAPITAL SCRIPT- no new info since 70s (or 70s inspired). Who cares about 80s' state of the art calculators?- very plywood sheet (4x8) centric. There should be more nomadic materials themed projects i.e, stuff we can easily buy and carry back from Home Depot etc. with a small car.more ideas looking around in IKEA, Target and Pinterest [...]

Ahead of his time.
Victor Papanek's ideas were ahead of their time, as Bucky Fuller's were. The two men knew each other and inspired a generation, and will continue to do so through their books in print and those forthcoming. I knew and worked with Victor Papanek and am writing a biography about him. My 2012 book SHARED VISION: The Second American Bauhaus brings to life Bucky Fuller's best years at Southern Illinois University, where he walked into my life.Al Gowan

Great for those who are still using reel to reel tape decks and such. NOT updated!
Someone suggested this book to me being a nomadic traveler myself. So, I bought the book -- the "updated" version of the book. I knew the first edition was written decades ago, so I figured this would have new ideas for new materials, construction fasteners, etc available nowdays. I was very disappointed to see basically heavy wood construction for things such as big honkin speakers that go with your 70's style hi-fi sound system. If this book was updated, I'd like to know why there's no mention of constructions with newer plastics and composites (PVC, coroplast, etc).As a Nomad, I just need a good place to sit, recline and sleep. My hi-fi sound system is an Android smartphone with noise canceling earphones (eg 'Bose QC20), occasionally using a tiny bluetooh speakers (mini jambox) if I want to fill a room with sound. Tape deck? LOL. Uh, most people listen to mp3 off iTunes or streaming via Pandora.Maybe I could use these construction plans next time I need to hang a 100 lb disco ball in my nomadic living space. Until then, however, it's about smaller, lighter, folding, inflatable, and multipurpose furnishings. This book ain't it.
