Best waist pack for hiking and playing disc golf
The media could not be loaded. This is my go to waist bag. I’ve pretty much dedicated it to playing disc golf as it holds up to nine discs easily along with my phone, water bottles, towels for wiping discs, etc. it’s perfect for a fast fun game.I also love using it for hiking as there’s plenty of room for food and gear. It has excellent water bottle holders that will hold larger bottles and you can bring clothes and even extra shoes in case of muddy trails or rainy weather.

Better than expected
I bought this pack because I had shoulder surgery. I wanted a pack that I could put sweaters/jackets and carry 2 quarts. It is excellent. I like the capacity and the design.

Good for a day hike!
It holds a lot, especially if you use the outside front panel to hold an extra jacket as I included in the accompanying photo of the bag stuffed and the second photo of everything I had inside. Fits 10 essentials plus compact binocular. Given most of the gear in the photo is "packable" or meant for hiking. I can confidently go into the backcountry for a day hike with this pack.Sold separately, I have the shoulder straps and rain cover, but usually don't use them as the pack has good weight distribution and in your usual light rain the pack is very water resistant. That said, on some special occasions like a heavy load or carrying items I absolutely have to keep dry, I use the rain cover sometimes.Having the pack low on the back keeps my shoulders relaxed and makes it easier to use a binocular for wildlife watching ( the ultimate reason I head into the outdoors). It also minimizes the sweat factor compared to a backpack. I find the load very comfortably distributed around the waist with this belt bag; especially when the butterfly straps are tightened down bringing the weight snuggled into the lower back.Only draw back I find is the 2x 1 liter bottle holders don't hold up to jogging as the bottles will fall out with heavy bouncing. There for I personally carry a 16 oz bottle in the holder most of the time. Also, my phone is too big for the hip pocket, but gloves or a hat do fit, so I still really appreciate the hip pocket.A great addition to my outdoor gear! Well worth the money!

Nice waist pack but waistbelt is short
A nice waist pack but with some issues. The fully opened-up waist strap is tight if I'm wearing a fleece sweater (my waist is 35") so larger people will likely not be able to use this pack. The shoulder strap's installed slide placement prevents it from being made long enough for comfort but I was able to fix that by forcing the slider through the pad to the other side so I can make the strap longer. And if there is much weight in the pack, you'll want to use the optional strappette shoulder straps.

Would’ve been perfect if the one pocket had organizer in it

Durability lasts a lifetime
Adventure ready I fell in love with MountainSmith when I moved to Boulder Colorado and will be a lifelong user of there gear. It’s bomb proof when all else fails my Mountainsmith pack is the 1st and only lumber pack gives me the mobility and speed to hike, Boulder or climb while wearing my gear

Fiddly
Made nicely, but something in the execution was just off. The straps were too bulky when stowed, the ergonomics weren’t right - maybe it’s trying to be too much? Anyway, it went back.

Large, sits comfortably and lovely turquoise colour
I'm going interrailing and have a wheelie backpack, so didn't want a backpack but wanted something to keep daily items close.I am an urban sketcher so its important to have supplies accessible.I also have a disability that affects my ability to hold heavy items in my hands. This is fantastic. It is a very comfortable fit. The shoulder strap and waist strap ensure it is versatile, comfortable and functional for travel. There are many pockets, which can keep me organised on my travels.Especially important to me us the large drink pockets, one will hold my foldable sketching stool and the other my large travel mug.It looks waterproof but has not been tested yet.Overall it seems perfect for hands free travel.
