sounds like a moped - but the replacement works great.
off the bat, the fan rattled and sounded like a little moped. Hope for an exchanged unit with normal performance. Disappointed given its high rating, but lemons do slip through the QC line sometimes. This poor rating will stay so that others can be warned of the risk of poor quality control. Update: the old trick of telly slapping worked for some mysterious reason. As I prepared to pull the unit out, a screwdriver handle accidentally slapped hard on the unit. Just to be sure nothing went wrong, I turned on the computer and surprisingly, the noise was gone. The fan was running but the unit was quiet like a church mouse. Wish I had done it earlier. In any case. a replacement came in, and it worked fine as well. So, occasionally, there might be a problem of packaging or shipping. When it works, it is fine. ETA: The rating has been changed to 5 stars: Recently, there was a power flash (prob just one second). In the past, the computer would have been off and had to be manually restarted. This power supply has sufficient capacitance that the computer did not restart. If the first unit came in without the strange fan noise, it should be 5 stars. So, it is strongly recommended, just hope for a non-defective unit. It has been over one and half years and it's still great. Recently another computer had a power failure, which made this unit more valuable for being reliable - for now.

It's a PSU....
What can I really say, I bought it to upgrade my store bought HP system w/ 450 W PSU (I didn't know any better at the time of purchase, sorry.) I took it out of the box (excellent packaging btw) and installed it in my PC. When I pushed the power button the second time, (flick the toggle switch to the "On" position....) my system fired right up. From my point of view, out of the box into my system and working. When talking PSU's that's pretty much a 5 star rating. I really can't say there's any cons as of the time of review, it looks great, it's quiet and the wires are all sleeved (bundled together into 4-5 separate groups) and the connectors are labeled. Install was easy and straight forward, but I will mention the SATA power cables are NOT 90 degree (EVGA please puts 90's on 1 set of wires), straight connector type on all of them and the wires between the 2nd and 3rd are a tad short. My nit-pick issues are all around the connectors for PCI and CPU, with the black sleeve over each bundle it makes things tight if you only need 1 6-pin PCI and 1 4-pin CPU plug. I ended up doing a tie back to keep the excess plugs away from the CPU cooler and GPU fans. As I said, nit-pick issues. On the install side, easily a 4.5/5 stars. (Just a PS addon, there are 2 PCI plugs, the 6+2 style. Just in case anyone is planning on an RTX 2080 or equivalent that requires the extra connector) Seems like a very good, cheap (price wise, not material wise) PSU. If you're just looking for a quick and easy upgrade to keep up with newer GPU's this one seems like a good option.

If you know what this is then you know its great
Basic power supply but always a reliable one. Used these in many builds, my only regret is I should have gone for the semi modular/modular version. The 2 PCI-E 8pin connectors are on the same line and so I have a random 8pin hanging out in my case when the rest of the computer is cable managed. I am not to worried about it as I will probably add a second graphics card once they become available at a normal price again. (Not holding my breath) Reliable and perfect budget powersupply. If this is your price range then just buy it.

Amazon Warehouse wins again
I was looking for a decent quality, ~550w+ PSU at a good price and while perusing the Amazon listings I found this one listed from Amazon Warehouse "Used - Like New" for 26.40USD. Arriving in two days flat, it was indeed like new down to that new PSU smell and screws still sealed. Hooked right up and works fine. It is powering a modest mATX i3-12100 system and tested with a 3070 under load (dual PCIe powered by pigtail singular PCIe cable) works as expected. I'm a regular buyer and user of EVGA products anyhow and this PSU is up to their standards as always. 5/5
