Q: Do i have to use those bags, or can i use generic vacuum sealer bags made by food saver, etc?

We have only tested our vacuum sealer with our bags, but other brands may work.

Q: What kind of plastic are these made of? is it tritan plastic? i'm concerned about other chemicals besides just bpa.

The plastic is proprietary information, however it is completely safe to use

Q: Are the bags reusable?

This has not been my experience for the medium size bags. I have tried to reuse many of these bags but they don’t work on the second reuse. The zipper pulls away from the outside of the bag when you open them. Small and large bags seem to be OK, I might have gotten a bad batch. I’ve been trying to get a hold of the Zwilling customer support line for a few days now (wait on hold for 30 to 45 minutes before giving up). I’m listening to their hold music as I type this. 23 minutes and counting this time.

Q: I received an extra black piece in my set. What is this for? And how to use it? There are no instructions just a random photo with no explanation.

Hi Ashley - That black plastic thingamajig is what you use to seal the plastic bags. You need a perfect seal in order to get a vacuum and the black plastic sealer will do that. After a few times, you'll see that you can just seal it with your fingers. As the bags get older and have been used many times the plastic gets a little bit brittle and then the plastic sealer is helpful.
