I already love my Garmin watch, so adding this scale was an easy decision—and I’m so glad I did! It integrates seamlessly and provides valuable data that helps me track trends over time rather than focusing on day-to-day fluctuations. Seeing the bigger picture has been incredibly helpful as I work toward my fitness goals. As an added bonus, it’s HSA-eligible, which makes it an even better value. Highly recommend for anyone looking to gain deeper insights into their health and fitness progress.

I wanted to love this scale, but sadly this scale just doesn't work the way that it should. The scale does not connect to certain WiFi networks and will not consistently sync your data to your Garmin Connect account. For this reason, I am returning this scale. More details below: I am in the Garmin Ecosystem. I have the Forerunner watch, the Edge bike computer, the cadence sensors, the speed sensors, and the Garmin Connect application. I like the quality of Garmin's products. I like the way they are designed around their users (e.g. The Forerunner watch uses buttons instead of a touch-screen because a touch-screen doesn't work with sweaty hands). They meet my needs and they work consistently. I wanted to love this scale, but it does not meet Garmin's quality standards for use. I wanted to get a scale that would record my body metrics and sync my data to Garmin Connect. I looked at some third party offerings, like Withings, but found that most of the time I would have to sync my data to one app, then walk it through another app, before I could get it into Garmin Connect where the rest of my health and performance data is. For this reason, the Garmin Index S2 made the most sense. It would sync all of my data to Garmin Connect and I could stay within a single application. When I opened the box, I was very impressed with the build quality. The scale is quite solidly built. In the box, you get 4 batteries, and some extra feet for using the scale on a carpeted surface. I popped the included batteries into the scale and started it up. Setting up the scale seems simple at first. You pair the scale to your phone using Garmin Connect, then proceed with the setup process. You add a nickname for yourself (The scale can sync to 16 unique users), and then you input your WiFi details. The scale says it is online, and you're ready to go. Simple... Or so I thought. I stepped onto the scale, and it gave me my weight. But instead of recognizing me as the user, the only user on the scale at this point, it says I am a guest user. Well that is odd, why wouldn't it recognize me? I go onto the Garmin forums looking for help. The scale, despite having Bluetooth, does not use Bluetooth to sync anything. It is only used for initial setup. Instead, the scale uses WiFi to sync data. I find that some users are also having trouble with their WiFi networks, and that pairing it to their phone as a hotspot works better. So I give this a try to add my phones hotspot as a WiFi network. The way that you do this is a bit unintuitive. You hold "Reset" on the bottom of the device, which doesn't actually reset the scale, but instead puts the device back into Bluetooth pairing mode. Once it is in this mode, you can add another WiFi network to your device. Note that if you do this, your scale will have a status of "WiFi setup incomplete" within your Garmin Connect devices section. So now, with my phones hotspot on, I try weighing myself again. This time, it recognizes me correctly, and gives me my body composition data as well (BMI, Bodyfat %, Muscle mass, etc.). But when I go into my Garmin Connect application on my phone, it still does not show up. The data just doesn't want to sync over. I try a few more times before it finally shows anything in my app. The syncing seems to be really inconsistent. I've had it sync over within a couple minutes, and I've had it take as long as several hours. The scale just doesn't want to sync over WiFi. Garmin's website is not helpful when it comes to troubleshooting. Is it a port issue? Does it need a reserved IP address? Does it need 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz WiFi? Why doesn't the device work over Bluetooth when it knows the user that is using it (and you can tap to select other users if it ever gets it wrong)? The primary function of this scale is to measure my body composition and weight, then sync it to Garmin Connect. It needs to work more reliably and conveniently than if I want to mark this data myself, manually. But at this point, it doesn't do that. For that reason, I am returning this scale. I am extremely disappointed in this scale. It is clear that Garmin released a product that was not fully thought out.

I’ve been using the Garmin Index S2 Smart Scale for a while now and it’s been a great addition to my overall fitness tracking setup. The setup process was quick and easy, and it paired right away with Garmin Connect and my Garmin Fenix 8. Once connected, everything syncs automatically, which makes tracking progress really convenient. Step on the scale and the data shows up in the app without having to think about it. What I like most is how well it fits into the Garmin ecosystem. It tracks a wide range of metrics like body fat, muscle mass, bone mass, and body water, and all of that data helps contribute to Garmin’s overall health insights like projected fitness age. Seeing those trends over time is really motivating. Like any smart scale, the body composition numbers should be viewed as close estimates rather than exact measurements, but they’re very useful for tracking progress and trends over time. Overall, this is a well-designed smart scale that works perfectly with Garmin devices. If you already use Garmin wearables like the Fenix series, this is a great way to round out your health and fitness tracking. Highly recommended.

I’ve read reviews saying it is difficult to set up, but I thought set up was easy. Connects easy with Garmin connect app. Display is bright and readable. I question the accuracy of body composition measurements, but I also don’t know what can be reasonably expected from a home scale. It is an expensive scale for what it does, but the connectivity and app integration is nice.

So I made things difficult on myself and I wanted a smart scale, but I didn’t really want to spend $200 on a scale. I tried a few other options like Etekcity, and Wyze. I tried this because I found a site that would transfer your weight in information over. It was OK, but not perfect. Save yourself the time and hassle and just grab this scale if you are a Garmin user. If its build quality is anything like their watches and other products, then it will be a great purchase/investment that will hopefully last.

I love that this syncs with my Garmin Watch. It makes it so easy to track my progress in fitness and weight. I get a clear picture of my progress, fitness age, body battery and so much more. It really is helping me on getting myself fit again (at the age of 65). The scale feels durable. It is easy to wipe off the top (glass). I store it flat in a cabinet and just pull it out when I want to get a weigh-in. Love that it tells me bone mass, fat, water, BMI, muscle mass. Glad I purchased this scale.

We tried Hume but they had loads of issues. The Garmin works great with my new Garmin watch. You just have to “kick start” the scale: a gentle tap on the side, rather than stepping on it to wake it.

We were put off by the reviews and nearly didn't bother with this, but they're really great scales. Having them on a flat, stable surface is important (our bathroom floor has slightly uneven tiles, so we have it on hardwood elsewhere). A light tap with your toe activates the scales. No home device is ever going to be as accurate as a DEXA, but the readings are pretty accurate - we tested the body fat % with callipers, and the scales seem to be brutally honest 😂 The display on the scales is very clear. Pairing this with a Garmin watch and Cronometer gives us online dashboards (not just phone apps) that supply enough stats to keep us nerdily motivated!

After purchasing these from Amazon UK, I received an invoice from FedEx for £39.07 for import duty, argued that Amazon were the importer but they wouldn't budge and I've had to pay this. The scales look good, weigh accurately but as for some of the other features I'm very dubious of their accuracy. For instance if my weight goes up by 1Kg after the weekend it shows my muscle weight being higher by a corresponding percentage which of course is nonsense, similarly if my weight goes down. The initial body fat percentages were far higher than the professional machine I'd been using but Garmin say in their literature if you have your own figures from a Dexa machine or similar to manually enter these body percentages and then miraculously it simply mirrors them going forwards, altering the muscle mass as your weight varies week to week. It seems that they know their own machine isn't accurate - A waste of money if you want to measure performance /gains over a period - according to these scales and the way they work, all I need to do is stuff my face to put on 5Kg and it will say I've put on 1-2Kg of muscle, regardless of the body composition.

I had to buy this particular scale as my Garmin Vivoactive 5 watch will not allow manual body fat input. You have to buy the scale (sold separately) if you want to maximize your watch's usefulness. The scale works great and set up is a breeze. Contrary to some articles found online, you DO NOT need to buy an ANT+ dongle to connect to your computer. The scale will share date with your devices via wi-fi. Scale accuracy is on par with other electro impedance scales - so/so. Great if you're looking for a general trend, poor if you require spot-on accuracy.
