A Figure Fit for a God
Based on the blockbuster Playstation game, "God of War III", comes one of NECA's all-time great achievements in plastic. Kratos is an absolute bad-ass and fits in well with NECA's other big screen punishers such as the "Terminator", "Alien, and "Predator" series as well as all their classic horror figures. At about 7" tall, Kratos comes boxed in the Player Select branded packaging that mimics the cover of the game itself. The sides and back of the box have some wonderful portraits of the figure with some well-done photoshop effects. He comes with his Blades of Chaos (that are done in a magnificent, translucent style), intricately-detailed Nimeon Cestus gauntlets (hoping I spelled that correctly), an alternate, more relaxed face sculpt, and the extension of his Golden Fleece that gets attached to his forearm. I found all the weapons easily interchangeable. While I love the option of the other wide, the standard face of rage he comes with is perfect for the attitude of this figure. The sculpt here is brilliant. This has to be considered one of NECA's best figures. I'd go as far to say that the final in-hand product looks even better than the prototype. Or maybe it's just seeing it posed in different ways, but it holds up extremely well. He looks fantastic but it doesn't hinder the articulation. Usually, sculpt and detail get compromised for joints and articulation but not here. He can be in very dynamic fighting poses but still look like a small statue. The angles on his face, nose and head are extremely accurate. The detail in the rage-tastic demeanor are straight out of "god of War III"--even the teeth and look like they were done on a resin statue. Just incredible job. Kratos is covered in the ashes of his wife and daughter from head-to-toe, resulting in him being nicknamed "The Ghost of Sparta". And once again NECA has captured that beautifully. The paint apps are clean and spot-on. I don't see any blotchy areas. The small details, like his scars on his face or abdomen, do not get lost from the paint application or the joints. The eyes have a cold stare and are not derpy. A realistic feature that they nailed from this game is the weathering affect on his tattoos. It looks like actual skin. The old NECA Kratos figures (which was based on his appearance from God of War 2) had very bold tattoos, so the difference here is rather incredible and makes Kratos look like a living, breathing entity. Obviously the 30 points of articulation make Kratos way more fun to pose than the older, stiff figures that could barely move. It's a 100% improvement in that area. My only nitpick, and I'm not even sure if I'm unhappy they did it, is that they have the Blades of Chaos when it should be the Blades of Exile. Since this game is so obviously from God of War 3 (the boxart, the Boots of Hermes on his feet, the gauntlets he literally beats off of Hercules), the Blades of Exile were the featured weapon in that game. However, the Blades of Chaos are more iconic and at the end of the day I'd rather have them on my Kratos figure. They are his weapons. Kratos already seems to be a very successful figure. He's flying out-of-stock from major retailers and even non-GoW fans ar epicking him up for his sheer badassery and excellent standard for upcoming NECA products.

NECA Kratos
This figure is awesome. The detail is simply impeccable. Kratos looks phenomenal. He is well sculpted and what I think is an ideal size. Articulation is very good. He is quite poseable because of this and stands on his own easily. I have him posed on my dresser which moves die to the opening and shutting of drawers and he doesn't fall over. He comes with his blades of athena and the gauntlets as well as a removable forearm piece of armor (because the gauntlet wouldn't fit otherwise). He also has two facial expressions and I removed and replaced the head several times without any trouble. I feel like this should cost more than it did. The only negative that I have noticed is that his grip between his thumb and fingers is really tight. This makes getting the blades into his hands pretty tricky. But once you get them in they tend to move around because the actual gap seems to be a little to big. Oh well. They don't move too bad and stay in place if he's not moving. Honestly I can't imagine taking the blades out of his hand ever and so I may just end up gluing them permanently in place so they never move. The packaging is pretty cool too if you just wish to keep him locked up. Get this before they are gone or the price skyrockets.

The Fallen God Of War!!
Really cool!! God Of War is one of my all-time favorite video game franchises! (next to Bioshock and Gears Of War to name a few.) This figure is very detailed almost as big as my Motorized Patriot figure. The head can be swapped out with ease! (unlike my Motorized Patriot.) A few minor nitpicks: First, the thirty-one points of articulation. Although cool, it can be a hassle to put on display and to pose it in different ways. Second, The Nemean Cestus. (The giant gauntlets.) Again, very cool, but also a little heavy. Can also add to the mild frustration in trying to display and pose it. That's it really. An awesome piece, very happy. Keep up the good work, Amazon and JZ Toys!!

God-Like ... Almost
Being my first figure purchased from Neca, I am very pleased with the God of War 3 Kratos figure. Kratos has interchangeable expressions, weaponry and poses. It's a great figure to position for display however you see fit whether in your display cases or on your shelves/desks in your home. If you're a God of War fan you'll love the attention to detail from top down on the figure. It really pays great tribute to the God of War series and the character itself. At times when viewing the expressions of Kratos it is actually a little off-putting, which is perfect considering Kratos' personality and temperament. He's not a friendly character, and this figure design makes sure it get's that across to everyone. Upon receiving the item the box was a bit messed up and I like to keep my figures in the box so that brought by score down to the 4 star. As for everything else, this is a 5 star figure all the way. If you are in the market for a figure of 'The Ghost of Sparta', look no further.

The sculpt is perfect, this is THE ultimate Kratos figure
I don't know how NECA is able to price this figure at $24.99. Something with this type of size, accessories, paint apps, articulation, licensing, packaging and plastic quality would go for at least $35. Makes you think how overpriced Marvel Legends really are. The sculpt is perfect, this is THE ultimate Kratos figure. It's even better than the Playarts Kai figure. Only minor issue are slightly loose hip joints and the shinguard limits the swivel feet enough so that it makes him a it hard to stand.

This was my first video game figurine and I am thoroughly impressed with the figure, detail, build quality, price and craftsmanship. I brought this direct from Amazon for a very good price of about £23 and I was nervous at whether it would be of quality or not. It arrived the next day and I was very impressed with the packaging and, most of all, with Kratos the figurine. The level of detail is very good indeed. You see veins on his head, teeth in his mouth and toes on his feet with great attention to detail. The model is made of plastic, rubber and rubberised plastic. It does not feel or look like cheap plastic like you get in most cheap knock-off children's toys of cartoon characters, this surprised me. For the cost I was not sure how it would look or feel. The figurine has a recommended retail price of £40 and Amazon could sell it at that price because I think it's worth between 40-60 pounds, so for £24, it's well worth getting if you are looking for a Kratos figure, or are a fan or the God of War franchise. I'm sure there are some people who spend hundreds of pounds on a single figurine who would have some negative things to say, but you're not spending hundreds of pounds and you get a well detailed, fully movable quality item. My only gripe is that it should have come with a small platform for it to stand on. It can stand up on its own but it's a little tricky to get it to stand upright. However you can bend the legs and even the toes to get it in a position you like. I wouldn't call this a toy, I'd call it a collectors item or an item to display on a shelf along with other figurines. The Roman leather skirt is made of soft rubber as are the boots of Hermes and Kratos' right arm guards. I feel this was a good idea to make them from rubber rather than hard plastic. Hard plastic could have made it easy to snap off bits of the skirt etc. Also it looks and feels better than if it had of been made with hard plastic. The two Nemean Cestus' (lion fists) are fairly heavy and are well detailed too. The two interchangeable heads just pull off and can be rotated to a position that you like. So all-in-all I'd defiantly recommend this figurine. It's well worth the money. Hope this helps.
