ASHFORDSampleIt Loom Stand Variable

I find having a stand for my loins is always a pleasure … even my small looms.

I tried to use my Ashford SampleIt Loom WITHOUT a stand at first, and it was very challenging. Ordered the stand, and it made ALLLLL the difference . . . suddenly weaving was a breeze (comparatively) and much more pleasurable than before. Looking forward to lots of projects on my little loom now!

Photo above shows stand in ‘fixed’ position. This is the newer stand for the 10 and 16 inch Sampleits, first available after October 2020. My 16 in Sampleit is also among the newer versions, purchased earlier in 2020. The loom is fairly lightweight and can be difficult for me to brace effectively, so I finally bit the bullet and ordered the stand.Assembly: One page directions were terrible & made it far more difficult than it needed to be. Ashford needs to post a video on assembly of this newer stand. I assembled solo but definitely easier with 2 people.Frame itself feels sturdy and solid BUT unlike the [older] stand for my Ashford 24 in RHL, which holds my loom in place quite well, this one does not and I was forced to order the ‘optional’ support braces. Directions say rest the loom on your knees. Well, no sir, I bought the stand so I didn’t have to fuss and fuddle with resting it on my knees. I wanted a stand for stability of my loom in a fixed position, adjustable as needed, as in my 24 inch Ashford.In my opinion, Ashford is cheating its customers by making the support braces ‘optional.’ They are NOT. While the stand is sturdy, it does not hold the Sampleit in a stable position AT ALL, which to me is the whole reason for a stand.Having said that, however, I do like the stand with the braces. But having to order the braces with additional shipping charges, total cost is more than the new adjustable frame for 16 inch to 32 inch [which does not fit Sampleits]

I love this stand, HOWEVER, the braces really should be included or at the very least also be offered on Amazon. A couple of weeks after receiving the stand, I realized it needed bracing, so I had to order the braces from another on-line source. Now the stand is great, but the additional purchase of the braces plus additional shipping really upped the price I ended up paying.

Great little stand, and perfect adjustability for two of my looms! I'm a little leary of the way the looms attach to the stand by simply resting on a single bolt on each side, but I guess if you twist the bolt tight enough, it shouldn't be a problem.

Height is perfect to just site on the sofa!
