Significant Cooling Improvement with Quietcool AFG SMT PRO-3.0 Smart Attic Fan
Let me paint a picture for you. Itโs the middle of summer, and the heat is unbearable. Our garage feels like an oven, and the attic? A sauna. I was desperate for a solution and stumbled upon the Quietcool AFG SMT PRO-3.0 Smart Attic Fan. Skeptical it would make a difference, I decided to give it a shot. Boy, am I glad I did! Pros: โข Effective Cooling: This fan is a game-changer. It makes going into the attic in the summer to grab something actually bearable. And the garage? Itโs like night and dayโsignificantly cooler. โข Easy App Connection: Connecting the app to my phone was a breeze. Controlling the fan settings has never been so easy. โข Quiet Operation: Even on high speed, the fan is barely audible unless youโre right under it and outside. The sound is not overpowering at all. โข Improved AC Performance: Since installing the fan, my air conditioner has had no trouble maintaining the set point. In previous years, the AC struggled to keep up during the hot months. โข Flexible Installation: The unit comes with cardboard trim to accommodate various vent sizes, making installation easier. โข Appearance: The sleek design blends seamlessly with the existing vent, maintaining the aesthetic of the house. โข Fit: The unit fit perfectly over the gable vent, thanks to the adjustable cardboard trim. โข Power: This fan packs a punch with its impressive 2940 CFM, ensuring maximum ventilation. โข Durability: Built to last, this fan feels robust and durable, ready to withstand the test of time. โข Value for Money: Considering its performance and features, this fan offers great value for money. Cons: โข Installation Requires Two People: Trust me on thisโitโs difficult and potentially dangerous to hold and mount by yourself. A second pair of hands is essential. โข Additional Supplies Needed: Be prepared with a roll of heavy-duty tape for the seams and around the fan to ensure everything is secure. โข Outlet Required: You must have an outlet in your attic to run the fan. โข Challenging Summer Installation: Installing this in the summer heat is tough. Plan accordingly. To give you some background, my house was built in 1993. I added blown-in insulation above the garage and in spots above our ranch, which likely helped the overall cooling. Overall, I am beyond satisfied with this purchase. If youโre looking to improve your homeโs cooling efficiency, I highly recommend the Quietcool AFG SMT PRO-3.0 Smart Attic Fan. This fan has made a tremendous difference in our home, and Iโm sure it will do the same for you!

Worth the money
My attic (600sf of floor space) had been running about 125f-130f. I installed this to a screened gable at the sunniest end. 4 cut 2x4's and some bigger rubber bushings than fan came with. Phone connect was simple and works fine upstairs. I watched the temps when full sun and right at 90 degrees out, attic temp dropped from 127 to 112 on high, 114 on low. After a week I found the high speed to loud so opted to run low only. I set it to kick on at 100, high only kicks on now at very high temp 125 I think. I do not hear it on low inside house. Worth the money so far, upstairs AC does not struggle so much, kicks on less. This was a 60yr old solo install so its not that difficult. On typical sunny days fan kicks on about 11am and runs until 6-6:30pm late July or about 7hrs unless rain moves in then it shuts off. Great fan, moves alot of air so make sure you have plenty of incoming air vents like clear soffit vents and better yet another free gable vent

Great fan
I bought the red fan and it was delivered two days ago. I haven't installed it yet but I did test it out on my work bench. Flawless operation. It's loud on high but that's to be expected. I only plan to run it during the day to keep my attic as cool as possible. Only one complaint. The fan dimensions are off. They give the width as 16" when it's really 17". It may not matter to most people but for my application I based everything off the fan being 16". Not a big deal. I'll figure it out. Definitely worth the money.

Happy but not happy.
Well, really like the concept of the product. Remote control thru Bluetooth and simple install. Mine came a little kicked in, but I need a gable to start moving. After a little repair to the frame, that fan moved air and in action we are. I foresee this being the right tool for the job and look forward to my next purchase. But please verify the packaging!!!!

Great Fan!
THE GOOD - I installed 2 attic fans about a year and a half ago from this company, not smart ones, just regular and I love them. So when I needed 2 more for our Ag Building that is being built I thought of them again. I saw the smart fan this time, but I was a bit leery. I saw conflicting information on whether this was a wifi fan or a bluetooth fan, I'm happy to report it is a bluetooth fan. That being said, it works great for my application, 19' up in the air mounted to the wall and basicly unobstructed. So I can not comment on how well the bluetooth works through walls, or ceilings with insullation. Also something to note is the size. It says 16", I think that might refer to the blades, the round part of the fan casing is more like 17". Had I known that I would have bought a vent with an 18" opening instead of a 16" opening. I bought nice closing louvered vents on Grainger and I added a piece of metal window screen between the vent and the fan to keep bugs out. On high this fan sounds like an airplane taking off, if you want a quieter one get one that doesn't move as many cubic feet, I wanted the air flow for our 60 x 36 metal building in the summer. Oh and side note this smart fan also has controls for humidity, which I didn't know when I bought it and might not use, but it's there if you need it. It also has summer and winter settings and it has a timed setting, not sure how adjustable the time is as I haven't played with it too much yet. Also the key to these is to download the app, plug in the fan when you get it out of the box, put chalks on both sides and get it set up on your phone or tablet and try it out to make sure it works. You don't want to mess with all that in your attic. THE BAD - This should have had five stars and I felt like giving it 2 stars but only for shipping so I didn't think that was fair for an actually great product. I ordered 2 of these and one came defective, I sent it back and ordered a new one right away because we were on a time constraint with the contractor finishing the project in 3 days. The new replacement came today in terrible shape, one of the mounting tabs was completely broke off, the round exterior was bent and 2 of the fan blades were also bent. I would have sent it back immediately except it has to be installed tomorrow. We were able to bend the blades back and fiddled around with the exterior shroud and my husband went and bought some bolts and remounted the tab. If I had not needed these quick I would have purchased them from Home Depot like I did my previous ones, and they shipped with no issues.

Beat the Heat!
Great investment for keeping my attic cooler during hot summer months in Oklahoma. The fan is quality made and the weight and size made for easy installation. The automated programing allows for the thermostat to adjust the fan speed as necessary for increased temperatures. Keeps the living area of the house cooler as well. Highly recommend.

Excellent, but LOUD
Essentially, I am giving this product 5 stars. If you only have a single vent and you need to push out as much air as possible, this PRO-3.0 fan is likely the best on the market. However, it is REALLY LOUD!! Anyone who has experience with air handlers or air systems will know that anytime you try to push almost 3000 cubic feet per minute of air volume through a 17" hole, you are going to get noise. This noise is a result of fan motor speed, air velocity as it is pushed through a small space, turbelence from the fan blades and any other obstruction, etc. In my scenario, the fan motor and air noise created a loud mid-range humming/buzzing that just cut right through the ceiling. My bedroom and office are directly under the attic where the fan is mounted and the noise was so intrusive that I could not live with it. This is not the fault of the product because we are essentially fighting physics here. The PRO-3.0 product pushes an incredible amount of air. Outside, the wind noise is not extremely loud but it is loud enough to disturb neighbors in the evening/night. It sounds like the inside of a warehouse factory with machinery running. The way to reduce the noise output in this scenario is to increase the size of the hole for air transfer and also reduce the speed of the fan motor. This will reduce the air velocity since we are using a bigger hole, but it will not necessary reduce the amount of air being pushed out (CFM). This is exactly what I did here. Since I had 2 gable vents for output, I returned the RED FAN and purchased two BLUE FANS which ran at a much slower speed and allowed a larger hole (essentially 2 x 17" which essentially equates to a 24" hole). The noise level was night and day. The noise is SIGNIFICANTLY QUIETER and the system still pushes as much or more air -- and two BLUE FANS actually use less power than a single RED FAN. I did replace the 5uf motor run capacitor in these fans with a Cornell Dublier MPF 5uf oil filled motor run capacitor (part number 32FD3705A-F at $24). This actually resulted in the motor running smoother and just a bit quieter with less capacitor resonance humming. At night in my bed with the two fans running full speed, I can hear a very quiet low frequency tone from the motor noise and air noise. It is much like a comfortable white noise and barely noticeable after I got used to it being there. So essentially, the numbers come down to the following: RED FAN (PRO-3.0) - 2940 CFM (about 1700 CFM real world), 264 watts, 1700 RPM motor speed, 74 decibels at 3 feet 2 X BLUE FANS (PRO-2.0) = 3890 CFM (about 2000 CFM real world), 240 watts, 1000 RPM motor speed, 61 decibels at 3 feet GREEN FAN (ES-3.0) - I did take a brief look at this fan. Yes, the brushless DC motor is much more efficient and versital since it can drive at 3 speeds instead of 2. However, the power supply uses electrolytic capacitors to drive the motor. I would be concerned about long term reliability on a device that operates 15 hours a day for many years in a high heat and high stress environment. Electrolytic capacitors really do not do well in this environment and will dry up and fail sooner than you think. I think the conventional motors on the PRO versions which uses film-based run capacitors will be much more reliable and durable.

Does the job and makes little noise / vibration
Excellent. The long extension cord was great, reached the plug on the opposite side of the attic. Runs much more quietly than I expected. Not every installation 'canvas' will be as perfect as the support videos (mine is an old house with odd gable vents) be prepared to cut the provider vent filler-plates to shape and have some metal duct tape to hand to complete the job. The unit is really good value for money. Will save loads on unnecessary air con / cooling. The app is excellent to configure, good to know what's going on up on the attic!

Well built but not indestructible.
Upon inspection one of the mounting tabs was bent and broken off and laying in the bottom of the box. The other tabs were bent and scratched as well as the housing and one of the fan blades was bent. This made the fan unusable. I was advised to return the fan which I have done. It looks like a well built product otherwise.
