Q: What is the diameter of the center hole?

center diameter is 1" & 1 /8, make nice little donut holes.

Q: How do you attach the center? I assume you attach the center by twisting in the opposite direction of the screw head but that is not working...

There are two screws on the inside of the round larger piece, place the larger holes of the smaller piece on the screws and twist toward the smaller holes.

I do not understand the question. I did order this doughnut cutter & it was as described & pictured . I got my recipe from an old cook book but you can google it & find many recipes to chose from.

Like Earlier Times Making Doughnuts

We haven't used it yet, but it takes me back to the days of earlier times when I helped my grandma and mother make homemade doughnuts. Well made and I know we will enjoy it. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 is because we haven't used it yet.
