New Stens Throttle Control Cable 290-163 Compatible with Left Hand Version, Panel Mount Style, Used on Riding mowers, Tractors and self-propelled mowers

This was a great modification for a Chinese mini dump tractor that I didn't like the floor throttle pedal so I installed this hand throttle instead. This does work just like the ratchet controlled hand throttle levers that are also available, and with that I mean your throttle spring is not going to return you to idle. This throttle lever is going to stay where you put it and maintain the engine RPM. For my engine, it allowes me full throttle range from idle to full throttle.

I have a really old "White" brand lawn tractor, it's probably 25 years old, and the throttle control on the dashboard started failing. The plastic housing had gotten so brittle it could hold back against the cable when you pushed it, so it wouldn't move the throttle on the motor. I knew finding an exact replacement would be either impossible or ridiculously expensive, so I just hunted around for a universal that look liked it'd fit and this one looked like it would work. The pros: It's cheap, it does exactly what you need, it's solidly build, mounts up strong. The cons: The lever is stiff, the cable was very hard to trim, a side cutter didn't work for me, I had to cut it with a hacksaw. Lastly, I think the travel on this (distance between low and high) is universally large, larger than I needed, so you may want to check that. When I first installed it, I had trouble with the engine running correctly, even at full throttle like I did with the old one (which worked fine). After some tinkering, I realized the "full throttle" of this was probably giving the engine too much gas and flooding it. In my particular case, half throttle on this product is full throttle on my old lever. Now that I know how to run it, it works great as a cheap replacement.

This was a great replacement for the assembly on my John Deere 318. A notch made in the bracket for the hood was needed to allow clearance, but it's nice and smooth. Better than the original Deere part.

Looks to be well made. I’ve purchased from Stens before and they’ve been good quality. I’ll need to make a slight modification to make it fit, but should work out fine.

Works as should. Fits well. Easy to install. Built great. Good for the money.

The "universal" throttle replacement kits you find in every store are complete garbage and have never adequately repaired any tractor or riding mower I've tried to use them on. I was about to give up and spend over $60 for over from Toro when I found these. Perfect fit in the dash of my tractor. Much heavier duty cable and lever. The t handle can be removed with a bit of heat and some wiggling, then it slides right in place of the original. The higher quality cable is night and day compared to the ones you find in stores. I was able to route it exactly where I needed to with a couple pretty tight turns that would've never worked with the cheap ones. If you need a dash mount throttle or choke, stop looking and buy these. They will save you hours of frustration and disappointment.

Works great. A bit long. Need to drill holes on throttle cable lever bracket a touch wider but well worth it. Will likely work on other older JD mowers such as a 316 and 318 as well

Took a little bit of modifications but works perfectly for the tractors throttle.

This was a perfect fit for my older Husqvarna riding mower, its well built and solid. Can't go wrong with it.
